Hello all
Greetings!

I have this doubt in a few cases where i have observed the traces of panthuvarali in songs based on kalyani, like this IsaignAni's song in kAdhal Oviyam - nadhiyil Adum

Likewise the abhang "sundar thE dhyAn" rendered by Lata Ji set to yaman (kalyani) a beautiful trace of panthuvarali appears at makara kundalE thalapathi shravani...

Could rasikas please help me with clarifications on the same??

Help me rectify if am wrong

Thanks in advance

film songs are not entirely based on raagas, unlike songs by greatcarnatic composers . we can only say that film songs are based on certain raagas . they very often deviate from the orignal raaga. which is the beauty of the film songs film songs in pure carnatic raagas were sung by sirkazhi ,mkt , mss, dandapani desikar, kbs etc .similarly abhangs. THE Legend Ilayaraja is an expert in composing songs like what you have mentioned His favourite raaga is mohanam .gobilalitha
