This is Smt. Indira Rajan and follows the Pandanallur style. I Sunil Kothari's book says that she is the cousin of K.N. Danadayuthapani Pillai (K.J Sarasa is his niece).
She has also accompanied Alarmelu Valli at earlier times. She taught at Krishna Gana Sabha in the 80's. Not sure if the classes are continuing.

In all the images of ANDAL I have seen, and all dancers who put on the koNDai, it is placed on the right; this is the first time I am seeing it on the left - does it have any significance, can it be placed on either side, or is it just a goof-up in this instance?

Andal has the chaya kondai on the right and Meenakshi on the left..
Specific significance I am not aware, perhaps establishing the identity I guess.
Incidentally this may be the reason why Iyengar brides wear the kondai on the right and the Iyers if they do use it on the left on their weddings.

@rshankar: You mean the kondai is always worn on audience's right which is the dancer's left.
@ rasikaas: I dont think the kondais on meenakshi and andal are on different sides.
andal
http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en ... =&gs_rfai=
meenakshi
http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en ... =&gs_rfai=

As far as i know, the feminine side has always been the left.(I am not sure why women sit in the right at wedding. maybe thats because its their day :D) The sun, moon head jewellery worn by dancers, its made sure the moon is always the left. In ardhanarishwara, parvathy is always on the left. In mohiniattam, the kondai is always worn on the dancers left. So, technically all kondais are worn on the left. I think its just a goof up in other cases.

An old one, Ganesh Chaturthi special - love the very lively dancer's expressions, her grace in every movement, impressive dance and the singer. I feel Ganesha is a difficult one to perform - most mimic his chubbiness and gait in an almost mocking sort of way - here the dancer is exceptional by making it seem so Divine and beautiful with her mudras and abhinaya.

S-P - Madhu is indeed a very talented young girl - I had reviewed another performance of hers before. I think the link to Sankara Sri giri in your post is not the right one...The choreography is her mother's - and showcases the pandanallUr style.

I really enjoy watching Kittappa Pillai's style. The periya theermanas especially have this thoroughness, and in general a lot of the adavus are done at a normal pace with emphasis on completion rather than speed.

Does anyone know the name of this Varnam?

An unforgettable composition, vazhi maraittirukkudE malaipOlE oru mADu paDuttirukkudE by GKB...

Performed by Ranee Ramasamy, disciple of Guru Alarmel Valli.

Don't know if this was presented here already - but the video is artfully done using "triptych graphic design -- the center panel showing close up, superimposed views, and the side panels showing a full body shot.."

The dance is engaging, abhinaya especially.

Another complimenting couple here Shijith Nambiyar and Parvathy

Can someone identify the song, composer here - lyrics too, if possible :

This, I found particularly expressive and absorbing - no clue about the song - with the inaudible video.

Here's another Ardhanariswar Stotram danced by one of my favorite Odissi dancers, Arushi Mudgal, niece of the famous Madhavi Mudgal (I think?).

http://video.webindia123.com/dance/odis ... /index.htm

Its 20 minutes long, but so worth it! Her subtle expressions really amazed me.

I wonder if new padams could be composed, from a man's point of view. Maybe one about a guy complaining to a god asking him why he keeps seducing/enchanting all the woman and feeling that he can't compare at all to the god.

There should be some sort of discredit for calling all kinds of --ap as bharatanATyam... :)
This one for going as far as calling it 'classic' - OK, OK, they called it bhAratnATyam, which I hope is very different from bharatanATyam....
And, this one got my groat as well...

the speaker is a highly controversial professor of history who authored a book recently called The Hindus: An Alternative History which supposedly exploits hindu history from a sex-oriented perspective. There are many detailed and fierce rebuttals to her interpretations some of which can be found here:

Kannan mananilaiyai thangame thangam by Ms. Roja Kannan at Parasah's 40th show..!! Vocals Ms.Nandini Anand Sharma and nattuvangam by Ms.T.N.Saranya..

Parasah is a team of 4 - Ms. Roja Kannan, Ms. Priya Murle, Mr.Srikanth and Ms.Aswathy Srikanth. Watch out for their new production "Prapthi Marga" this season..!

"Prapthi Marga: Path of Complete Surrender' (Bharat Kalachar, December 13) which has Vaishnavite connotations. The profound theme is explained using three characters – Andal (Ashwati), Meera (Priya Murle) and Draupadi (myself). Srikanth will be the sutradhar. For my character, we have drawn heavily from Villibharatham and Dasarnama, besides Bharatiar." - Ms. Roja Kannan as said in http://www.thehindu.com/arts/dance/article923726.ece
