Arangetram - how to charge

Post by natyasri »

Hi,

I really need help and quickly to decide how and what to charge for upcoming arangatram.

The date is summer 2020 and preps being soon.

My costs involved
1) choreographing and teaching - Special classes 3 times a week.
2) though i know how to do nattuvangam, i am formally learning from a teacher so that I approach. So there is that fees.
3) A special item is requested so I have to learn to teach.

I have been told to charge classes lumpsum, and then some more for gurudakshina. i have a structure in my mind, but want to cross check with someone more learned and experienced here so that i can use the same structure for all budgets.
I am thinking

1) classes - fixed amount for 156 classes
2) Gurudakshina - Flexible
3) Saree, bangles and turmeric-vermillion - i want this irrespective of cost or quality of saree as a keepsake of kids whom i groomed with such passion.

Please email me so that i can share actual amounts in my mind- ONLY if you think you can help me. I dont want to be over or under charging.

Thank you

I cannot answer your question, but this will probably vary widely based on a number of factors. If you do compare notes, make sure it's someone with whom you have commensurate experience.
