The swarastanas are similar to Bhavapriya. Can you enlighten me how it is differing from Bhavapriya.
Madhurambam bhajare is in the ragam Stavaraja, 46th raganga ragam. More about this raga can be read here.

@Rajani
Thank you very much. I have edited my post accordingly.
You would have noticed that I have tried my best to get the devanaagari script for most songs. Sri.Govindan has given the lyrics in that script even for Telugu songs in his blogs.
For Sanskrit songs, that script should have priority.
In the absence of any reliable transliteration tool, to get the Sanskrit original from the English transliteration, people steeped in Sanskrit can easily re-create the Sanskrit from the transliteration , manually.
That would be 'learning sanskrit' from sung compositions- the theme of this particular thread.
May I have your help?

@shankarank
p-1 clearly stipulates the requirement of language and also, the decades when the song was rendered. ( 1930-1970).
Videos of later performers do not fit in this thread. No offence meant to the artistes.
It can be better posted In 'musicians' or composers sections.
The ideal will be a rendition in public domain ( pseudo-video), lyrics in transliterated-English and SANSKRIT, ragam information, a faithful translation of the song in English and if possible in Thamizh as it is the thamizh audience who are handicapped by the exact pronunciation of Sanskrit songs
As transliteration is being done with the diaspora in English-speaking countries, in mind, the present scheme is a near horror. After a few decades, youngsters will read 'ta' as in 'talk' and not as in 'thought'.

Well the diacritical method, I agree will give a hint that it is not the "t" of English. But practicality of the English keyboard gives us no easy means! lexilogos has been suggested many times. But I found a transliteration converter (large scale capable)

The URL below presets it to go from Harvard-kYOTo (Left) to IAST (right)

Stuck in history again! Great things don't have to be confined to certain era and it can evolve to better ways ( I agree this is subjective and prone to contemporaneity of perspectives/biases of the time!). But then it is always not a monologue, there is dialogue and feedback and evolution of rasikas needs to be factored.

@shankarank
Yes. Historicity , to a certain extent , is very important. That is a part of tradition, that both of us, are particular about. You are so fond of harking back to Vedic times but I am just for the historical period of the Trinity for compositions and for the decades 1930-1970 the defining decades of the best of CM rendering as available to the general public. without the visual distractions of videos. Why would anyone like to 'see' CM instead of 'hearing'? Why should we see the audience? I believe that the era of ARI, MVI, Chembai, Musiri, MMDD, Saathoor AGS, SSI, MMI and GNB and MSS, DKP, NCV and finally MLV and a host of Instrumentalists of that era are the best to this day. Even the performing artistes of today would wholly approve except a few conceited characters.

Thanks for sharing the URL of converter. But nothing like reverse transliteration by somene who knows the language. As you have studied Sanskrit, you will be invaluable ' resource' for that task. Kindly provide the Devanagari version for 'valli dhevasenaapathe' by PSivan and help. You can use google input tools.

The harvard-kyoto input that produced the output - So people can find the correspondence! Some of it like Z for what we normally use as S is different. And E for "yay" sound is small case "e" as that is the only sound in Samskritam (Kanchi Paramcharya did say vEdic language has the shorter "yay" sound as in tamizh in sAmA vEda?).

Interesting to note is the number 12 specified as dvi-shaT-bhuja - two times six - 12 hands / panniru kaikagal instead of dvadaSa.

Absolutely wonderful! I have copied and pasted in the relevant post for the sake of unity in presentation.
The additional notes about the short 'ye' as in 'engae' also is a bonus. How is 'entha naerchinaa' written in devanaagari?
'panniru kaikaL ' also is very nice.

Well now the musical aspect of dviShaTBhuja. SrI PApanASam Sivan must have picked it up from ARiru taDantOL vAzhga usage in kanda purANam. ARiru makes for the right candas and sets up the prAsam to be followed in rest of the lines. Sets up a dIRgha at the start.

SrI nIlakanTa Sivan does IrAru karanE in his OrAru muganE :

viewtopic.php?p=186281#p186281

Similar usages are in SrI UttukADu VenkaTasubbaiyer compositions IrEzhu bhuvanam (two dIRghas to begin) in ADAdu asangAdu. SrI dIkshitar retains caturdaSa bhuvana in his caturdaSa rAgamAlika SrI viSvanAtham.

So dviShaTBhuja is a translation of similar usages in tamizh.

<<Corrected - thanks @advaitin (below) for pointing out. As I read the other page - by the time I wrote here mixed up>>

WORD FOR WORD TRANSLATION: Pralaya Payodhi Jale

TRASNLATION
1) O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of a fish! All glories to You! You easily acted as a boat in the form of a giant fish just to give protection to the Vedas, which had become immersed in the turbulent sea of devastation.

2) O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of a tortoise! All glories to You! In this incarnation as a divine tortoise the great Mandara Mountain rests upon Your gigantic back as a pivot for churning the ocean of milk. From holding up the huge mountain a large scar like depression is put in Your back, which has become most glorious.

3) O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of a boar! All glories to You! The earth, which had become I,merged in the Garbhodaka Ocean at the bottom of the universe, sits fixed upon the tip of Your tusk like a spot upon the moon.

4) O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of half-man, half-lionl All glories to You! lust as one can easily crush a wasp between one's fingernails, so in the same way the body of the wasp like demon Hiranyakasipu has been ripped apart by the wonderful pointed nails on Your beautiful lotus hands.

5) O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of a dwarf-brahmana! All glories to You! O wonderful dwarf, by Your massive steps You deceive King Bali, and by the Ganges water that has emanated from the nails of your lotus feet, You deliver all living beings within this world.

6) O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of Bhrgupati [Parasurama]! All glories to You! At Kuruksetra You bathe the earth in the rivers of blood from the bodies of I he demoniac ksatriyas that You have slain. The sins of the world are washed away by You, and because of You people are relieved room the blazing fire of material existence.

7) O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who haze assumed the form of Ramacandra! All glories to You! In the battle of Lanka You destroy the ten-headed demon Ravana and distribute his heads as a delightful offering to the presiding deities of the ten directions, headed by Indira. This action was long desired by all of them, who were much harassed by this monster.

8) O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of Balarama, the yielder of the prowl All glories to You! On Your brilliant white body You wear garments the color of a fresh blue rain cloud. These garments are colored like the beautiful dark hue of the River Yamuna, who feels great fear due to the striking of Your plowshare.

9) O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of Buddha! All glories to You! O Buddha of compassionate heart, you decry the slaughtering of poor animals performed according to the rules of Vedic sacrifice

10) O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of Kalki! All glories to You! You appear like a comet and carry a terrifying sword for bringing about the annihilation of the wicked barbarian men at the end of the Kali-yuga.

11) O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed these ten different forms of incarnation! All glories to You! O readers, please hear this hymn of the poet Jayadeva, which is most excellent, an awarder of happiness, a bestower of auspiciousness, and it is the best thing in this dark world.

12) O Lord Krsna, I offer my obeisances unto You, who appear in the forms of these ten incarnations. In the form of Matsya You rescue the Vedas, and as Karma You bear the Mandara Mountain on Your back. As Varaha You lift the earth with Your tusk, and in the form of Narasimha You tear open the chest of the daitya Hiranyakasipu. In the form of Vamana You trick the daitya king Bali by asking him for only three steps of land, and then You take away the whole universe from him by expanding Your steps. As Parasurama You slay all of the wicked ksatriyas, and as Ramacandra You conquer the raksasa king Ravana. In the form of Balarama You carry a plow with which You subdue the wicked and draw toward You the River Yamuna. As Lord Buddha You show compassion toward all the living beings suffering in this world and at the end of the Kali-yuga You appear as Kalki to bewilder the mlecchas [degraded low-class men].

English Translation of 'Vandhe Maatharam ' by
ARAVINDHA GHOSH
Founder of Anusheelan Samithi and Jugantar
1907
-----------------------------
]
Mother, I praise thee!
Rich with thy hurrying streams,
bright with orchard gleams,
Cool with thy winds of delight,
Dark fields waving Mother of might,
Mother free.

Glory of moonlight dreams,
Over thy branches and lordly streams,
Clad in thy blossoming trees,
Mother, giver of ease
Laughing low and sweet!
Mother I kiss thy feet,
Speaker sweet and low!
Mother, to thee I praise thee. [Verse 1]

Who hath said thou art weak in thy lands
When the swords flash out in seventy million hands
And seventy million voices roar
Thy dreadful name from shore to shore?
With many strengths who art mighty and stored,
To thee I call Mother and Lord!
Thou who savest, arise and save!
To her I cry who ever her foeman drove
Back from plain and Sea
And shook herself free. [Verse 2]

Thou art wisdom, thou art law,
Thou art heart, our soul, our breath
Thou art love divine, the awe
In our hearts that conquers death.
Thine the strength that nerves the arm,
Thine the beauty, thine the charm.
Every image made divine
In our temples is but thine. [Verse 3]

Thou art Goddess Durga, Lady and Queen,
With her ten hands that strike and her swords of sheen,
Thou art Goddess Kamala (Lakshmi), lotus-throned,
And Goddess Vani (Saraswati), bestower of wisdom known
Pure and perfect without peer,
Mother lend thine ear,
Rich with thy hurrying streams,
Bright with thy orchard gleems,
Dark of hue O candid-fair [Verse 4]

In thy soul, with bejeweled hair
And thy glorious smile divine,
Loveliest of all earthly lands,
Showering wealth from well-stored hands!
Mother, mother mine!
Mother sweet, I praise thee,
Mother great and free! [Verse 5)

======================================
This Nadopasakas Video Features Bharat Rathna M S Subbulakshmi presenting the Krithi "Veena Pustaka Dharini" in Vegavahini raga by the Musical Wizard Muthuswami Diksithar.

This Krithi is known for its gait and the way it proceeds like the Sangeetha Athidevatha Rajamathangi riding on an elephant. The Krithi exemplifies perfect balance between Mandhra and madhya sthayi Phrases and stands testimony to dikshithar's wizardry.
I have included apart from the pictures of Rajamathangi and Saraswathi, the pictures of MS Amma playing the veena. And also too other giants Srmathi Shanmukhavadivoo (MSS'S Mother) and Veena Dhanammal.

This Krithi is even today considered the asset of the Dhanammal School. It is also beleived that Smt. MSS learnt the Krithi from the Renowed Musician Smt. T Brinda of the Dhanammal School.

Ragam: Thoya Vegavahini (16th mela variant)
Tala: Khanda Ekam (Misra Jhampa)
Composer: Dikshitar
Version: M.S. Subbalakshmi

Pallavi:
Veenaa Pustaka Dharineem Aashraye
Vegavaahineem Vaaneem Aashraye

Anupallavi:
Enangayutha Jataajuta Makutanthaam
Ekaagra Chittha Nidhaatham Vidhi Kaantham

Charanam:
Paraadyakhila Sabda Swaroopa Avakaasham
Powrnamee Chandrikaa Dhavala Sankaasham
Karaara Vindaam Kalyaanadaam Bhaasham
Kanaka Champaka Dhaam Bhuusha Visheshaam
Nirantharam Bhaktha Jihwaagra Vaasaam
Nikhila Prapancha Sankoosha Vikaasaam
Naraadhama Aanana Vilooka Shoka Apahaam
Naraharihara Guruguha Poojitha Vigrahaam

Meaning: (From T.K. Govinda Rao's book)
I seek the blessings ("Aashraye") of Goddess Saraswati, having in her hands ("Dharineem"), the sacred scriptures ("Pustaka") and the instrument ("Vina") of Vegavahini - the external manifestation of an internal emotion. Who is of the form of speech ("Vaaneem").

She wears the crescent moon ("enangayutha") , and diadem ("makuta") on her locks of hair ("Jatajuta"). Who is meditated ("nidhaathaam") with full concentration ("ekaagra") in the mind ("chitha"). And she is the beloved one ("kaantham") of Brahma ("Vidhi"), the creator.

She is the personification ("avakaashaam") of the different forms ("swaroopa") of sound and speech ("shabda"), such as PARA etc ("paradyakhila"). She is of a whitish ("Dhavala") hue ("sankaashaam"), like the full moon ("Powrnamee Chandrika"). Whose hands ("Karaara") are like the lotus ("vindaam") and she is the bestower of auspiciousness ("Kalyaanadaam"). She is the personification of languages ("Bhaashaam"). She is especially ("vishesha") decorated ("dhaam or bhusha") with gold ("kanaka") necklace of champaka hue. She sports ("vaasaam") in the tip ("vaagra") of the tongue ("jih") of devotees ("Bhakta"). She dissolutes ("vikaasham") and originates ("sankosha") the entire ("nikhila") universe ("prapancha"). She wipes out ("apahaam") the sorrow ("shoka") arising out of the sight ("viloka") of crooked people ("naraadamaanana"). Her form ("vigrahaam") is worshipped ("pujitha") by human beings ("nara"), Hari, Hara, and Guruguha.
