thanks VK, Ravi, Arasi and others. I little bit of fine tuning was required in the end. The following two songs would complete the list before mangalam in sourashtram and madhyamavathi:

RTP: Pallavi: Thyagarajarin thiruvaiyarukku veesam mel Chennayil Thiruvaiyaru-Ragam 'Vijay'asri thalam: Kanda chapu and
Jaya jaya TV JayaaTV- Namavali

Shreyas,
My my. Whoever gave you the name meant well for TMK, too.

Suggest you send this to him in one or more of several possible ways to reach him. I look forward to his looking forward to your looking forward to his presenting all these very very fine songs in an akhanDam.

πŸ₯΄. Kamala Charane? Imagine it in Vilambakala. Can't find the emoji for a long twang of a nasal whhhhaaatt? sound.

An ideal/wholesome kutcheri for me would have this structure:

1. Varnam (with some S if one chooses to)
2. Vinayagar kriti (S)
3. Vilamba kala kriti (A)
4. Kriti with a brisk pace (N, S)
5. Sub-main kriti (A, S)
6. Fast paced kriti (with a barrage of fast paced S)
7. Main Kriti (A, N, S, T)
8. Ultra fast paced kriti
9. RTP
10. Viruththam in 3 or 4 ragams followed by a song in the last ragam
11. One or two items from Padam, Javali, Thillana, Desh bhakthi song, Abhang, North Indian style song, etc.
12. Mangalam

The above structure and content would merit a 4-hour concert, I guess. Slicing, dicing and pruning required for concerts of shorter duration.

@Sachi_R I doubt he's ever going to listen, though. I have been requesting him for a few songs for about four years, since when I used to live in Bangalore to when I moved to Hyderabad, and not even once has he obliged. So the maximum I'll ever get is just the list up here.

These are just some lists that I wrote on a whim, perhaps after hearing a rendition of one of the compositions. Some of them are plain absurd, but I would definitely sit through any one of these concerts.

1. viribONi – bhairavI – aTa – pacchimiriam AdiyappayyA [R, S @ chiru]
2. nIvADanE gAna – sAranga – khanDa chApu – tyAgarAja [N @ dEvAdi, S]
3. brihannAyakI jagadrakshakI – nAyakI – Adi – jayachAmarAja wODeyAr [R]
4. srI valmIkalingam chintayE – kAmbhOji – aTa – muddusvAmI dIkshitar [R,N@shankaram,T]
5. elarADAyenE – bhairavI – Adi – chinnaiAh
6. mODi jesEvELarA – harikAmbhOji – Adi – paTTAbhirAmayyA
7. eTuvanTi vADe - nIlAmbari - tripuTa - kshetrayya

I've always wanted to listen to an elaborate Saranga neraval. The Nayaki krithi is very rarely heard, and I believe it deserves more 'screentime'. Sri Valmikalingam is, of course, a work of art that is highly neglected. I also would love to hear Viriboni to start a concert with the full works.

1. maguvA ninnEkOri – nArAyaNagowla – aTa – vIna kuppier
2. manasA eTuLortunE – malayamArutam – rUpakam – tyAgarAja [N @ sulabhamu, S]
3. nannu brOvumani – kaLyANi – misra chApu – bhadrAchala rAmadAsu [R, N @ adrijA]
4. eTula brOtuvO – chakravAkam – misra chApu – tyAgarAja
5. pAhi janani satatam – nATakurinji – misra chApu – swAti tiruNAl [R, Th, N @ dEvi, S, T]
6. rAgam tAnam pallavI – darbAr – khanDa tripuTa [RS in nAyakI, sAranga, udayaravichandrika, varALi, budhamanOhari, paras]
7. smaraNE ondE sAladE – AnandabhairavI – Adi – purandaradAsa
8. manasuna neranammiti – bEgaDa – rUpakam – patnam subrahmanya iyer
9. sivE pAhi chamundEswarI – suraTi – khanDa tripuTa – mysOre vAsudEvachAr
10. nI nAma rUpamulakU – sourAshTram – Adi – tyAgarAja

The Narayanagowla varnam is an all-time favourite of mine (That MDR rendition is just superb). Manasa Yetulortune with neraval at a different place would be interesting to listen to, as would an elaborate Nannu Brovumani from somebody other than TMK and BMK. Also, a Darbar RTP with ragamalika swarams in Nayaki sounds fantastic! The Begada and Surati krithis are compositions I have always wanted to hear on a concert stage.

1. ninnE bhajana – nATa – Adi – tyAgarAja [S @ seyuvADanu]
2. marachE vADana – kEdAram – Adi – tyAgarAja [S@rAma ninnu]
3. rAvayya bhadrAchala rAma – Anandabhairavi – Adi – bhadrAchala rAmadAsu [R, N@rAvayya]
4. tyAgarAjam bhajarE – yadukulakAmbhOji – misra chApu – muddusvAmi dIkshitar [R]
5. soumitri bhAgyamE – kharaharapriya – Adi – tyAgarAja [R,N@bAguga,S,T]
6. rAgam tAnam pallavI – simhEndramadhyamam – rUpakam [RS in hindOLam, kApi, kAmbhOji, malayamArutam, sahAna]
7. kanDEnA govindana – mand – Adi – purandaradAsa
8. nI nAma rUpamulaku – sourAshTram – Adi – tyAgarAja

The first two songs are, of course, MDR classics. Item 3 is a Nedunuri school favourite, and I was always wondering how it would be to listen to it with some nice neraval, especially after I attempted one myself. Tyagarajam Bhajare is a rarely heard masterpiece in Yadukulakambhoji, and I am yet to hear a 'mained' Soumitri Bhagyame from anyone but Nedunuri garu.

1. saraNAgata yenDru – gauLa – Adi – gopAlakrishna bhArati [S @ saraNAgata]
2. nitya kaLyANi – rAgamAlika – rUpakam – sItArAmayya [R]
3. anAthuDanugAnu – jingaLa – Adi – tyAgarAja [R, S@purANapurusha]
4. ninnuvina marigalada – rItigauLa – rUpakam – syAma sAstri [R, N @ nAmadilO]
5. sAramEgani anyamarga vichAramETikE – kAmavardhinI – Adi – tyAgarAja [R, N @ sAmagAnalOluDau, S, T]
6. rAgam tAnam pallavI – mOhanakaLyANi – misra chApu
7. srI gAyatrI – valajI – Adi – OgiRAla vIrarAghavEndra
8. tillAnA – kuntalavarALi – Adi – mangaLampalli bAlamuraLIkrishna
9. nI nAma rUpamulaku – sourAshTram – Adi – tyAgarAja

I always wonder why people never pick krithis like (1) for a start to a concert. Nitya Kalyani is a solid ragamalika that could last 40-45 minutes if each ragam was elaborated properly. (3) and (4) are nice songs, of course, but considering the Kamavardhini kraze of today, I would really love it if this piece were taken up as opposed to the jaded Ramanatham, Raghuvara and Ninne Neranamminanu. Mohanakalyani is a favourite raga of mine, as is BMK's crowning glory of tillanas.

1. saraNAgatuni – rItigauLa – Adi – sripAda piNAkapANi [S @ kAdambavana]
2. brhadambA madambA – bhAnumati – Adi – muddusvAmi dIkshitar [R]
4. nI mati challaga – AnandabhairavI – Adi – kavi mAtrubhUtayya [R, N @ talli tanDri, S, T]
5. rAgam tAnam pallavI – husEni – panchamukhi [RS in mOhana, bhairavi]
5. nI nAma rUpamulaku – sourAshTram – Adi – tyAgarAja

A very short list, but one I would love to listen to. (1) is a fantastic varnam, which earned Pinakapani garu the compliment that it sounded like a Tanjore Quartet composition. Bridamba Madamba is no particularly great composition, but I'd like to see the song elaborated. Ni Mati Challaga is one of the most compact and yet beautiful capsules of Anandabhairavi there is, and I would love to hear it mained. Huseni is an often underappreciated raga, and I think a pallavi in it would be great.

1. kanugonu saukhyamu – nAyaki – Adi – tyAgarAja
2. bhuvanEswariya – mOhanakaLyANi – Adi – muthaiah bhAgavatar [R]
3. janakajA samEta – asAvEri – rUpakam – tyAgarAja [R, S @ janakajA]
4. koniyADE nAyeDa – kokiLadhwani – Adi – tyAgarAja
5. evarunnAru nannu brOchE – balahamsa – Adi – mysOre sadAsiva rao [R]
6. sundarEswaruni jUchi – sankarAbharaNam – Adi – tyagarAja [R, N @ andamugala]
7. vara nArada nArAyaNa – vijayasrI – Adi – tyAgarAja
8. amba kAmAkshI – yadukulakAmbhOji – misra chApu – syAma sAstri [R, N @ amba nannubrOva, T]
9. rAgam tAnam pallavi – dEvAmritavarshini – khanDa tripuTa [RS in yadukulakAmbhOji, vijayasrI, sankarAbharaNam, balahamsa, kokiLadhwani, asAvEri, mOhanakalyANi, nAyaki]
10. sAramaina – behAg – rUpakam - swAti tiruNAL

(3), (5) and (6) are what I'd really love to hear from this list. The others are nice fillers for the spaces in between, though. Note: I'm not using filler in its conventional sense; I mean to say more familiar pieces in this case. I also suddenly got the idea of having the ragamalika in the RTP basically a rehash of all the ragas sung until that point.

1. viribONi – kEdAragowLa – jhampa – rudrapaTnam venkaTarAmayya
2. indira nAmamu – tODi – Adi – annamAchArya [S @ indira nAmamu]
3. parama purusham – lalitapanchamam – jhampa – swAti tiruNAL
4. enduko nI manasu – kaLyANi – Adi – tyAgarAja [R, N @ rAgarahita]
5. mosabOku vinavE – gauLipantu – Adi – tyAgarAja [R]
6. ADEnamma haruDu – paras – Adi – puliyUr doraisAmy iyer [R, N @ jADaga, S]
7. kamalAmba nA chintadirchavamma – kAnaDa – Adi – garbhapuri srInivAsa iyengAr [R, S @ kamalAmba, T]
8. jambupatE mAmpAhi – yamunakaLyANi – tisra Eka – muddusvAmi dIkshitar
9. rAgam tAnam pallavi – bhUpAlam – khanDa Eka [RS in AbhEri, sAvEri, kApi, varamu]
10. vA vELavA – tAnarUpi – khanDa chApu – kOTIswara iyer
11. karacharanakrtam – nATakurinji, kAmbhOji, varALi, tAnDavam
11. kaDavulai maravAdE – tAnDavam – Adi – danDapANi dEsikar
12. enta nirdaya – latAngi – Adi – mysOre vAsudEvAchAr
13. patiki hAratIrE – suraTi – Adi – tyAgarAja

Tukkadas here must have been random songs I got off the internet, I suppose. The varnam and the annamacharya krithi are rare ones, and the Kalyani is a rapidly fading classic. Adenamma is in my opinion one of the best Paras-es out there, and same with Kamalamba and Kanada. A Bhupalam RTP would of course be a treat.

1. kamalAkshi – yadukulakAmbhOji – aTa – vINa kuppier
2. sarasvatyA bhagavatyA – chAyAgowLa – misra chApu – muddusvAmi dIkshitar [S @ ratI ramA]
3. gajAnana yanuchu – tODi – rUpakam – chinnikrishnadAsa [R, N @ mOdakamunu]
4. ninnanAvalasina – kaLyANi – misra chApu – tyAgarAja [R]
5. vinAyakuni valenu – madhyamAvati – Adi – tyAgarAja [S @ tyAgarajuni]
6. Emi nEramu – sankarAbharaNam – misra chApu – tyAgarAja
7. enta muddO – bindumAlini – Adi – tyAgarAja [R, S @ enta muddO]
8. mArakOTi kOTi lavaNya – Arabhi – jhampa – muddusvAmi dIkshitar [R, N @ viraktAnAm, S, T]
9. mOsamAyE – Ahiri – tripuTa – kshEtrayya

The lovely Yadukulakambhoji varnam followed by a rare MD creation would lend a nice 'theme' of sorts to the concert. The short and sweet Gajanana Yanuchu has plenty of space for an elaborate neraval (sung by MDR and the Malladi brothers). A rare Kalyani once again and Vinayakuni with swarams at Tyagarajuni (after I once attempted, and botched, this). A gentle Emi Neramu Γ  la BMK and an Enta Muddo Γ  la TNS, with a rare Arabhi and Ahiri padam, would make a nice combination.

1. vAchAmagOcharunDanI – aThAna – Adi – mysOre sadAsiva rao [S @ vAchAmagocharunDanI]
2. intakanTE ghanamikalEdu – suraTi – Adi – annamAyya [R, S @ intakanTE]
3. ninnujUchi – punnAgavarALi – tripuTa – kshEtrayya [R]
4. paluku tEnelatalli – karnaTaka dEvagAndhAri – khanDa chApu [R, N @ paluku, T]
5. O rangasAyi – kAmbhOji – Adi – tyAgarAja
6. gOvardhana giridhara – darbAri – Adi – nArAyaNa tIrtha

Once again, a short list, with the rare and majestic Athana, the Annamacharya krithi, the submain padam and the standalone O Rangasayi being the salient features.

1. ennakuTram – husEni – misra chApu – m d rAmanAthan [S @ ennakuTram]
2. bAla vinavE – kAmbhOji – tripuTa – kshEtrayya [N @ chinnanATi, S]
3. vidamu sEyavE – kharaharapriya – Adi – tyAgarAja [R]
4. ranganAthuDE – sourAshTram – rUpakam – ponnaiAh piLLai [R, N @ ranganAthuDE, S]
5. mAmava karuNayA – shaNmukhapriya – Adi – swAti tiruNAL [R]
6. rAgam tAnam pallavi – punnAgavarALi – aTa [RS in kApi, vasantabhairavi, kumudakriya, manOhari, lalitapanchamam, jenjhUTi, T]
7. mAdhava mAmava – nIlAmbari – Adi – nArAyaNa tIrtha
8. shAntAkAram bhujagasayanam – kaLyANi
9. dayamADO – kaLyANi – Adi – purandaradAsa

Once again, an elaborate Kshetrayya padam following MDR's almost unheard Huseni padam would be magic. S Ramanathan's Vidamu Seyave was running in my head (and my laptop) when I wrote this list down, followed of course by Voleti garu's piece de resistance. An elaborate Punnagavarali is to be cherished in any case, of course.

1. nannubrOvu lalita – lalita – misra chApu – syAma sAstri [S @ nannu]
2. srI guruguha tArayAsumAm – dEvakriya – rUpakam – muddusvAmi dIkshitar
3. talachinantanE – mukhAri – Adi – tyAgarAja [R, S @ talachinantanE]
4. sringArichukoni – suraTi – Adi – tyAgarAja
5. chEsinadella marachitivO – tODi – Adi – tyAgarAja [R, N @ rAma srI tyAgarAjaprEma, T]
6. rAgam tAnam pallavi – telugukAmbhOji – misra tripuTa [RS in gauLa, maNirangu]
7. naDamADi tirinda – kAmbhOji – khanDa chApu – pApavinAsa muDalier
8. srI vishwanAtham bhajEham – rAgamAlika – Adi – muddusvAmi dIkshitar
9. bhujaga sAyinO – yadukulakAmbhOji – rUpakam – swAti tiruNAl

Most important for me while writing this list were (3) and (6). 3 is a very nice and melodious Mukhari (much like Sarasiruhanana) that we rarely get to listen to these days, and (6) is a ragam that Annamacharya apparently composed in. I would much love to listen to this hoary raga presented in the ultimate manodharmam suite.

Hope you enjoy reading and theorising about these, and most importantly, any young artistes on this forum please take notice! 😁

@Ananthakrishna Thanks a lot. I am honoured that you would consider my composition fit to be sung in a concert, but also unsure whether it's worthy of that honour πŸ˜‚

As far as your lists go, I would definitely sit through all three of them, even though I can't make head or tail of half those Mysore Bani compositions you have included. Huseni and Asaveri mains, especially the compositions you've chosen for the same, sound extremely interesting (not to mention challenging), and your Ragam-Thanam-Padam is a particularly intriguing concept.

I will definitely start a thread about telugukambhoji - I've begun doing a lot of digging on it and will hopefully be able to realise that RTP of mine someday!
