Krithi on vadukknathan and other kshetram krithis of kerala

Post by shrinik »

Hi all,
Just out of curiosity I am writing this post. Are there any krithis on Lord vadukknathan Shivan of Kerala.
Maharaja Swati tirunaal has composed krithi on vaikkom shivan and many other kshetram krithis, but couldn't find one on vadukknathan.Just wondering if there are any other krithis by any other composers on some temples of Kerala.
Thanks in advance

Dear Shriniji

Swathi Thirunal, as per the standards of those era would never have tried a krith on Vatakkum Nathan as , that was a Kochi God!

There ARE FEW KRITIS ON Guruvayoorappan, Poorna Thrayeeshan ( Trippunithura)

K C Keshava Pillai has some good kritis on some deities .....

Like Thyagaraja Swami, no saints and like Dikshitar no scholars in music were in Kerakla to write and tune CM!

To my knowledge, no time tested compositions are available on LORD VADAKKUNNAATHAN of Thrissivaperur (Trissur).

Most of Swati Tirunal compositions are on Lord Padmanabha. Sthala/kshetra kritis are very few.

Paripahimam Poornathrayeesa in Bilahari by MDR is a beautiful piece. It's available on YouTube sung by none other than Amrutha Venkatesh. But the audio quality is very poor. Else would have learnt it from her rendition.

I think here we should compliment Ambujam Krishna who although not from Kerala has given us the gem Guruvayoorappane Appan in Reetigowlai.

Except one devotional song 'vaDakkumnAtHa sarvam naDathum nAtHA' , sung by Yesudas.

Poornathrayeesa is Lord Siva at Trippunithura near Ernakulam.

There is a kriti on Lord Siva of Vaikkom 'Vyaaghra pureesa jaya jaya sambho' by Lalithaadasar in Naatakurinji. It was often sung by Chembai.

Poornathrayeesa is not Lord Siva, Vishnu as Santhanagoplan would be closer i guess

Poornatrayeesha of Tripunithura is a trimurti (trayee). The icon is a representation of Brahma, Vishnu and Siva.
