A person who got this review in 2005:

TMK was not singing cEtaSri then actually, he was only upto ETi janma in slow pace.

Got this in 2006:

Not too sugary!!
Singers like Shamshad Begum and Salma Agha charmed listeners with their husky voices that bordered on the masculine. In fact they became popular because of their unusual timbre and rendition.

Visalakshi Nityanand carries a similar tenor but only the sugary coat is missing. The result was a flat and lacklustre performance, although some good aspects surfaced.
She said: Well, I don't have sugar alright, but if you do ferment it and bring a glass :

And called out for Krishna.

Now Krishna arrived as well!

We cannot complain too much can we. We did not have the guts to take it into temples and ask for Audio upgrades in Sabhas, contribute to it! Krishna actually did that also!

We did not ensure the temples that we partner with North Indians to build in NA, also have great Audio. At least then our youngsters could also bring their guitar and piano recitals to the Temple as well, along with their White and Chinese friends! Some times Black too!!

The temples they may not come to later in their life!

Not that that would have made a difference, but at least our complaints will have some ring of sincerity!

Her flawless diction and proper linking of words with the thalam is on account of her profound knowledge of the lyrics.
We can do better than that, now that we know more. The interval sense is derived from a specific knowledge acquired by observation from Guru and performers. And imbibing it. Chandas (mAtra) the meter precedes the letters (varna), much before the lyrics (sandhAna - unifying, compounding). The artiste must be excited by it and feel that that is integral part of the art.

May be when he said profound knowledge of the lyrics , he might have meant that!

Having an abstract representation helps us to then extrapolate to situations beyond where it was gleaned from. All across the sciences we can see the evidence of it.
