Books on Carnatic Music

Post by Eklavya »

Hi,
I am listening Carnatic Music from past 9 years. I am of 18 and want to appreciate this music up-to its full essence, but my knowledge is very limited in this art, I am just a mere beginner. Can you please suggest/send me books/e-books (from level beginner to advanced) which will increase my knowledge of this art form. I know English and Hindi only.
One thing that I must say is that because of Carnatic Music, I am able to appreciate Western Classical Music and Klezmer.
Thanks

Hello Eklavya,

I would recommend you start with the following book - Appreciating Carnatic music by Sangitha Kalanidhi Chitravina Ravikiran

https://www.amazon.com/Ganesh-Co-Apprec ... 8185988218

This forum - Rasikas.org has tons of information under various categories (Raga, Tala, Music Learning) and read through them to learn more.
