Vidwan Vijay Siva about human voice and various introspection

Post by kvchellappa »

“Carnatic musician Vijay Siva here in a 14mins vdo clip gives a thoughtful narration and his observation about human voice modulation, behavioural changes in human voice over a period of time.”
He makes an interesting point why we should keep to the original sangatis: it is so tuned as to take care of your voice.

Interesting presentation. Shri Vijay Siva makes many assertions here, some of which I agree with. As for the point raised here about singing sangatis the original way, the fact of the matter seems to be that Vijay Siva is among the very few who do that, and in fact he keeps the sangatis with great exactitude. Most people including great vidwans of now and yesteryear have modified the sangatis according to their aesthetics and limitations. Regardless, I defer to him not only as a practitioner and professional but also as one of the select handful who have maintained a strong and resonant voice over a long period of time.

Is there a posting of the presentations given by the other people on that dais?
