hi rasikas,
i think choorikai is the less discussed topic among music forms
can any body throw some light on it
here is one choornikai to begin with(familiar one)
jayathu jayathu-ragamalika-thyagarajar-prahladha bakthi vijayam
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRJsSuWE-7o
one more text says this way:
"jayatu jayatu. rAgA: curNikAvinOdini. tALA: not given."
is there a ragam by curNikAvinOdini which has compositions.
can anyone provide some more churnikas and there recordings if available.
is churikai usually sung in arabhi ragam ?? or it depends on composition??
choornikai

Re: choornikai
Thiruvottiyur Thyagayya has a composition in 'cUrNikAvinOdini'. If I remember correctly the pallavi starts as 'kamsAntaka nannu brOcuTaku'. Vid. Srikantam Nagendra Shastry has sung this. A youtube link should be available.

Ajaysimha,
Stop reading books on music.
They will document the existence Of gadhyam, padhyam, choornikai and other obsolete musical forms. They will list talas that nobody knows anything about and ragas that nobody has any clue about. They will talk about six kinds of tanams.
This will only confuse you and you will clog rasikas.org with questions nobody can answer.
So listen to music and enjoy it.
