Just follow the timeline of its accreditation and you will know how that happened!

Sastra university in Thanjavur was not given the permission to start the law course initially!

Forumite Govindasamy's wish come true. No rituals, no brahmins. Truly Caste free tyAgarAja utsavam. Now only thing they need to remove is the controversial references to petty dancing woman that the tyAgarAja , living in his smartaDom made.

Add to that a Candle light vigil!

Bala,
Thanks. I listened carefully to JadAnandakAraka to zero in on whether 'lead kindly light' had not crept into the song  No such thing. Agreed, there are divisions and derisive elements surrounding us , but why not appreciate young minds being receptive to a good thing, such as being part of a program like this as singers and listeners? We don't have to bring dogmas, personal prejudices and name-calling into this and make things worse. We all know that as children grow up, they do not pick their friends based on their religion, castes and sub-castes. Proof enough to say human beings are what counts there. Not dogmas :( So, please give tolerance a chance, those of you who converge from every angle, bent on not giving positivity in human existence a little chance...

Govindasami, Thanks for your post...

A preposterous post. Your whole sermon is irritatingly addressed to me !

Post #1 just gives a reference to the commonly available YouTube link.
Check again.

Bala,
Just saw your post, and I am intrigued. I did NOT direct any bit of my comments towards you at all :( We have known each other for a long time for a misunderstanding of that sort :( My post might have lacked clarity. I should also have started a new paragraph. That's why this happened.
I was happy to see your post, a positive one (the very posting of it was a good thing), and I thought I was continuing in that strain. Sorry for upsetting you with no such intention at all on my part . It was purely meant for those who don't give two hoots as to how other people think...:(

May be a parliamentary convention of addressing {Ahem!] the chair I thought. So now I don't have to worry if it was actually addressed to me or not and simply respond to the chair nevertheless.

When tyAgarAja was so scrutinized for his lyrics and smArtaDom, it is only fair that we apply the same critical theories from Frankfurt school of Marxism to the institutions who want to host tyAgarAja when they made public pronouncements on humans in general dividing them into two groups : sinners ( their own followers!) and others who are condemned to hell!

The institution which issues bulls , should be asked to clarify through edict whether these things still hold good in their beliefs because they made public and geographical engagement crossing the boundaries of civilizations to propagate theirs. Nicene Creed is still being read out in their congregations.

tyAgarAja's works even though published ( mostly following the fad of Christian era in India!!), is a guru-Shishya conversation meant for Shishya's absorption. Yeah I am being nuanced etc., but those who discuss plagiarism are infinitely more so. The concepts expressed were not used to even deal with people next street , let alone affect anybody.

So it becomes pertinent now that an institution is so openly involved, that we raise these issues!!

Nice! If wrote what I had surmised, you may have to end up saying what you said above. I will in good sense withhold it

Am I barking up the wrong tree, or is it you? I'm about double your age. Either out of traditional respect for old age, or with allowance for advancing years, it's nice to know that your good sense prevails. Thank you for that...:)
Anyhow, what I meant to say inadequately, I realize, wouldn't have added much to the discussion...

An old song you quote
Surreal you lose the plot
bark you up one tree
takes you to another tree
