I found a picture on their website:

Details

My reading of the text is that this veena has been made and offered as an engineering/art first and has no basis in any ancient text or reference.

Is this just for the record, or is there a way to play it ? Has anyone played it?

Guys,
I don't think it is humanly possible to play this giant veena. It is only a showpiece.

Of course it has been made by an instrument maker and would be tuneful.

Smt. Shyamala Bhave is a well known veteran in both HM and CM. She is a dimunitive figure. She would have strummed the strings and one or two notes. Period.

The hormone fed overgrown humans in the future could stand & play may be. Dallas is gifted to have the son of one other disciple of Karaikudi Sambasiva Iyer and he talked about playing in the vINA , placing it in vertical position in his tradition.

Also , if one of them is perched up in a high mighty chair and divide the job between two of them, they could do a synchronized execution. Why duets? Just do it on one! :lol:

A piece of wood

One sees it as a sthANu and worships;
Because he sees the motionless motion creator,
Another sees a log and cuts it to make a house;
Another sees art and carves a beautiful figurine;
Another makes a treasure chest to hoard wealth;
Another hears the eternal nAda and strings it;
Another sees it as fire wood and burns to cook;
Piece is one, uses are many - unto one's imagination;
The faculty of imagination is one, but containers many;
Each unto himself - the thought and the thinker One;

.
Three to play a violin !
https://youtu.be/KetMm_70QmM?t=2
"Craftsmen in eastern Germany's Vogtland region have a long tradition of making violins, and a group from the town of Markneukirchen have built the largest violin that can actually be played. The instrument is four meters high and weighs more than a hundred kilograms, so playing it requires more than one musician. A local composer has even come up with a special piece for the giant violin."

This might inspire Chinnappa Natarajan to attempt a violin bigger than this.
