Thank you Sachi. A beautiful presentation.
From old kathak days, the costumes have taken a new turn, it seems to me. This lovely, but longer costume does obscure her footwork, I'm afraid--except when she whirls around. Plentiful jasmine on her hair brings her down
south.The music is excellent.
Wonder if Nick has watched it.

Arasi, I think Pali Chandra is a global Kathak teacher of repute.
Watch her other videos. All the music is prepared by her own team for her.
Importantly, the words are taken from Devi Mahatmya - lines which form a part of the prayer you hear in Durga Puja pandals.
The more senior Kathak dancers wear more gown-like dresses in such pieces. These are abhinaya-focussed pieces. The thihais and sawaal-jawaab type of pieces are different where they come stand in front of the floor mike and do their bit.
Remember, the Salwar Kameez type of dress was adopted mainly for Moghul courts.

Sachi,
I did see a bunch of videos after reading your post and am happy to say I saw a lot of footwork in them, with the hem line of her costumes being higher up--the nritta aspect of traditional kathak clip being one. Her dancing is very appealing.
Would like to hear Ravi's comments on her--from the horse's mouth, as it were, and in his (its?) prose!
