Mnemonics for Swaram

Post by ganesh_mourthy »

This pattern of singing called swarams that come with songs has always been imposing and sometimes even unwieldy to me . Especially the more varnams you know , the more patterns you will have to remember, and sometimes two varnams in the same raga can get in the way of your already memorized pattern.

There should be some way out of this , than mere repetition. Even within repetition we subconsciously employ some break , and length and musical patterns.

I am not talking about Kalpana swarams here . But for even Kalpana swarams, when we chance upon something good, we should device a memory tool to reproduce it. Or it would be an one off ecstasy.

Any inputs? Srikanth .. have you never had any such problem yet ?
