Heard on the radio that this temple is unique in that it has a sannidhi with 2 moolavar Nataraja idols - one worshipped during Uttarayanam and the other during Dakshinayanam.

Are the idols replaced and put away? How does that work? It’s difficult to imagine two idols simultaneously in the same sannidhi, and then to imagine that one is not worshipped while the other is.

Not seen them but I think these are stone idols and permanent fixtures (since they are being referred to as Moolavar).

Rituals such as Archanai, Abhishekam etc. are performed on the chosen one. The other one simply waits patiently for his turn :)
