Kowsalya invoking the blessings of "Ranganather"

Post by satyabalu »

*I listened to senkalipuram Anandarama Dikshidhar narrating the daily puja performed by kawsalya praying for "Ranganather".when Rama informs that he had to leave for vanavasam she cries"my puja has no Palan".Can someone explain the historical/mythological background of how this could have happened when it is generally believed(I believe) Ranganathar is worshipped in southern part of India?

The archa murtis for each yuga are said to be the foll:-

1.krta- Sriranganatha

2.treta-Rama

3.dwapara- krishna

4. kali- kalki (venkateswara according to some)

So worship of Sriranganatha existed from before Sri rama's time and panned the entire bharata varsha. The N/S divide came about in the last ~1000 yrs I would imagine.
