Please listen to one of Kabir's doha sung by Ustad Rashid Khan, in raag Charukeshi. The Lyrics (copied from the audio) is also posted as also the audio Link. Please correct the Lyrics for any error and also word by word meaning of this doha is solicited. Thanks. The song is indeed mind-blowing.
The Audio Link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHjk1iAD ... 1&index=22

Three or so dOhA's. That is interesting sung like a poem. Ustad Rashid Khan's rendition took me to another World full of Bliss for 15 minutes. Thanks Hariharan.

I found a couple of dOhAs on the net:
10- धीरे-धीरे रे मना, धीरे सब कुछ होय ।
माली सींचे सौ घड़ा, ॠतु आए फल होय ॥

[Slowly slowly O mind, everything in own pace happens
The gardiner may water with a hundred buckets, fruit arrives only in its season]

रुखा सुखा खाई के, ठंडा पानी पी |
देख पराई चुपड़ी, मत ललचाओ जी ||
Eat simple food and drink cold water
Do not look at the buttered bread of others and long for it.
MEANING
You have to try to live simply and be satisfied. If you try to pursue the luxurious lives of others, you will not have peace in your life. Materialism does not bring peace in life. The more a person gets the more he wants. There is no end to greed.

Thanks Sri. Lakshmanji for your posting of 2 dohas with meaning. I wish to have the remaining dohas also, sung particularly by Ustad Rashid Khan. Sri. V.R.Raman Sir had rightly said that this song by Ustad RK takes those who just listen it to a world of extreme bliss and mental happiness. The raga Charukeshi is the right choice by the singer to give this bliss to us through his mind blowing awesome rendition.

Here is one more:
transliterated:
sukhiyAn DhUDhat main phirUn, sukhiyAn milai na kOyi |
jAkE AgE duhkh kahUn, pahilE uthai rOyi ||

Translation:
I wandered searching a happy man, found not one did I |
Found one, but ‘ere I could start my tale, he broke into tears and started on his story ||

Hariharan
If you observe, there are four couplets. Lakshman has given the meanings and correct words for three.
The fourth one is this:
KarE burAyee sukh chAhE kaisE pAve koi
Boye Ped Babool Ke, Aam Kahan Se khAye
Meaning:
After doing bad deeds, if one desires happiness (good results), how will he get it?
Can you plant a babool tree (bitter, medicinal) and expect it to give mangoes ?

I post below few more Dohas of Sant Kabir Das. I wish someone post the meaning of these dohas. Thanks

You may find meanings of most of Kabir Dohas in the link - http://www.boloji.com/index.cfm?md=Content&sd=Kabir
The meanings are rendered by Sri Rajendar Krishan - If I am not mistaken, he is the famous lyricist of Hindi Films

Here are some that were part of my curriculum eons ago - the words in roman script are for those that do not read hindi - in addition, the words may be slighly different in places, because that is how I was taught these, but the overall meaning doesn't change. For instance, I do not think kabIr used 'anmOl' for priceless - IIRC, he used 'amOl'; 'parlay' instead of 'pralay' - things like that...

जहां दया तहं धर्म है, जहां लोभ तहं पाप।
जहां क्रोध तहं काल है, जहां क्षमा आप॥
jahAn dayA tahan dharm hai, jahAn lObh tahan pAp |
jahAn krOdh tahan kAl hai, jahAn kshmA Ap||

Where (jahAn) compassion (dayA) exists, there (tahan) lies (hai) righteousness (dharm), where greed (lObh) manifests, that's where (tahan) sin occurs |
Where anger (krodh) is felt, time/death (kAl) awaits, and where forgiveness (kshmA) flourishes, so do you (Ap), (my Lord) ||

काल करे सो आज कर, आज करे सो अब।
पल में प्रलय होएगी, बहुरि करेगा कब II
kAl karE sO Aj kar, Aj karE so ab |
pal mein parlay hOyegi, bahuri karOgE kab ||

What needs to be done (karE) tomorrow (kal), finish it (sO) today (Aj kar), (what needs to be) done (karE) today (Aj), do it (sO) immediately/now (ab) |
(For), in (mein) a second (pal), a deluge (parlay) may come/happen (hOyEgi), (and if that happens) when (kab) will you do (karOgE) all (that is left undone) (bahuri) ||

सुख मे सुमिरन ना किया, दु:ख में करते याद ।
कह कबीर ता दास की, कौन सुने फरियाद II
sukh mein sumiran nA kiyA, dukh mein kartE yAd |
keh kabIr tA dAs kI kaun sunE fariyAd ||

(Men, who) did not (nA kiyA) think/meditate on (sumiran) (on the Lord) during (mein) happy times (sukh), (now) during distressing/sorrowful times (dukh), (suddenly) recall/think about/remeber (katE yAd) (the Lord) |
Kabir says (keh), who (kaun) (do you think) will listen (sunE) to those/such (tA) devotees' laments (fariyAd) ||

रात गंवाई सोय के, दिवस गंवाया खाय।
हीरा जन्म अनमोल था, कौंडी़ बदले जाए II
rAt ganvAyI sOy kE, divas ganvAyA khAy |
hIra janam amOl thA, kIDA badlE jAy ||

(Humans) fritter (ganvAyI) their nights (rAt) away by sleeping (Soy kE), and the daytime (divas), by eating (khAy) |
(and in doing so, they) change (badlE) their lives (janam), from priceless (amol) diamonds (hIrA thA) to mere worms (kIDA) ||

बडा हुआ तो क्या हुआ जैसे पेड़ खजूर।
पंथी को छाया नही फल लागे अति दूर ॥
baDA huA tO kyA huA jaisE pED khajUr |
panthI kO chAyA nahIn, phal lAgE ati dUr ||

What's the point (kyA huA) of growing big (baDA huA to) like (jaisE) the date palms (khajUr) tree (pED) |
It offers no shade (chAyA nahIn) to a weary traveler (panthI kO), and it's fruits (phal) are too high (lAgE ati dUr) (for him to eat) ||

दुःख में सुमिरन सब करे सुख में करै न कोय।
जो सुख में सुमिरन करे दुःख काहे को होय ॥
dukh mein sumiran sab karE, sukh mein karE na kOy |
jO sukh mein sumiran karE, dukh kahE kO hOy ||

Everyone (sab) prays to/meditates on/remembers (the Lord) during times of sorrow (dukh mein), but no one (kOy) does it (karE) during happy times (sukh mein) |
(But, if) everyone (sab) prayed (sumiran karE) during times of happiness (sukh mein) as well, then, why (kAhE kO) will times of sorrow (dukh) ever transpire (hOy) ||

जहां क्षमा आप॥
This means 'where there is forgiveness, there You (Ap) are'.

कौंडी़ बदले जाए II
'kauDI' means a 'coin' (small coin)
The diamonds are bartered for small coins

Ravi,
Thanks for KabIr.
How many such good threads go unnoticed by me!

A reprimand for me too there. When my coming 'kal's aren't that many, and what 'Aj's I have are disappearing fast into 'kal's which cannot be retrieved (my image of Rajesh with a stick in his hand saying 'hurry up!' becomes sharper)! [-x Yes, I am working with my songs regularly now--Aj kal hOnE pehlE, kal hOkE bichaDne pehlE :)
