Post by vgovindan »

I came across this ullApana gItaM (lullaby song)

The links - https://sanskritdocuments.org/doc_giita ... agItam.pdf
https://rajeshkohli.blogspot.com/2016/0 ... dalsa.html

The last stanza is a variation (addition) found in some websites and the same is a popular song version also.

Fantastic, Rajani.
Just think that for a lullaby, this is way too philosophical!

Shankar,
Madalasa is stated to be a sage when she bore the child (Rshis are not sannyasis).
How else treatises like 'ashThAvakra saMhita' would have come into being? Such statements as given therein (saMhita), if made by anyone now, it would have been considered as blasphemy.

It is rather a pity that Siddhartha (later gautama buddha) was denied the opportunity of getting a guru like Vasishtha for Rama. If he had got one, probably, he (Siddhartha) would have been another (or even better) Adi Sankara propounding vEdanta.

And Siddhartha would have been another Janaka - a RajaRshi - talking to ashThAvakra like sages. Mithila of Janaka is not far away from the land where Siddhartha was born.

Such a holy land (and such a downfall now)!
