Very sad. Passed away at a young age, too, I think?

EMS sir was a great yet humble vidwan.

I remember a concert in Venugopalaswamy temple, Malleswaram, where he repeated what UKS sir played in its entirety.

RIP

Very sad...I have heard him play many times in the past twenty years--a good artiste and a pleasant but quiet presence on stage.

A good thing that Ghatam Suresh was there, and a few other musicians too. It was touching, the way he lived his life, without a family. His being a musician and a teacher (all his students were there) would have meant a lot to him...

Very sad. A very sincere tribute by Ghatam Suresh.
I fondly remember him accompanying U Srinivas (with UKS) in Dec 2013. That was the last concert I heard of his...

Alas, another loss. Sincere condolences. A very fine ghatam player and just as fine a human being. Simple and humble. The music community should come together to support upapakavadyam players in particular, for they often slip through the cracks when Sabhas and organizers draw up lists.

Shri Subramaniam's elder brother, Shri E M Panchapakesan was fine mridangam player in the 80's.

Very sorry to hear about the demise of Sri EMS. I did not know him. But sad to hear that a humble artist died alone- no family with him at his last moments. RIP. Glad to hear his disciples were there.

No family members were around as, according to news reports, he was unmarried and all his siblings predeceased him and also were unmarried. Thus he left behind no children, nephews or nieces. End of the family line.
