Post by mpi »

'It's one of the best books I have ever read ... I don't mean one of the best books on music, I mean one of the best books I've ever read, on any subject,' said Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen at the Chennai launch of A Southern Music - The Karnatik Story.

The second edition of T.M. Krishna's 'A Southern Music: The Karnatik Story' will by unveiled by Shri Girish Karnad on March 26th, at Chowdiah Hall, Bengaluru, 6:45pm. Everyone is welcome.

The Programme details are as follows:

Shri Girish Karnad unveils the book & addresses the gathering
Excerpts from the book read by Shri Gopalkrishna Gandhi
Vocal Recital by Vidvan T.M. Krishna accompanied by Shri H.K. Venkatram & Shri K. Arun Prakash
The author will sign copies of the book after the program concludes.

MPI,
Will someone clarify why they brought out so soon a second edition of one of the world's greatest books?
Will Amartya have a say on this please?
:)

I got an invite and may go.. Will skip the speeches though :)

I believe TMK will sing after the speeches.

Perhaps the first sold out.

Or perhaps, it is the New, Improved Version!

The First edition sits, on my shelf, still awaiting reading.
