I have these books - they are probably one the very few books on thyagaraja compositions which has word-by-word (although sometimes it is for a phrase). In fact when I asked (few years) ago at the Karnatic Music Book Center of books on thyagaraja krithis with word-by-word meaning - they said they had only one such set and it was in tamil, and these were it.

They are incomplete, in the sense he did not get through all melas - and they also do not have many of the popular krithis. Still they are very good - although one needs a sanskrit dictionary in order to decipher his tamil commentaries and meaning :) ! It is a highly brahminic dialect with liberal sprinkling of sanskrit words and phrases.

But thanks to VGV, we have a more detailed version with word by word meaning.
