Thanks!
Will go there. Prakashrao is godsend. I missed Amrutha's concert, I realize :( but can find it in his cache, I think.\
I could get the AIR relay today (thanks KVC and Sachi). Caught most of Rama Varma's concert and enjoyed it. His emotive voice has more depth now. Caught on from his moving neraval in kEdAragowLa. The svarAs for jalajanAbha were appealing. He is more assertive in his singing now, I feel (a compliment it is).
He invested a lot of feeling in singing sAvEri rAga. His pleasant voice dwelt lovingly in every segment of the main kriti, tAnam included.
I don't hear Vinu often, but what an asset he is! His playing is sweet and robust at the same time. Percussion was so pleasing, no wonder there. Pros they surely are. Sachi, as you indicate in your other thread, I could hear BhArathi's 'sol' (pun intended) all through the tani. Karthik is something :)

Well, Narayanan (Prakash rao), it is then! Thanks as ever to him...
Just heard Amrutha's concert. A brisk Arabhi. The main rAgA KalyANi was delectable. There was depth and width in it. Some fireworks in the upper register. This main item was presented with nidAna and gambhIra. I quite relished her svarAs.
nIlAmbari followed--kaLakaNTI. When she sang aLita SObhita chAru, it took me back to my childhood days. When I heard the song for the first time then, it was mesmerizing...

It was Jayalakshmi Santhanam singing it at seven kaTTai Sruti (which did not take away the beauty of the song) when I first heard it--after all, she was a youngster, and the sweetness of the voice was mesmerizing and brought out the beauty of the song. I have heard others sing it too, but the clarity and sweetness of her singing still stays with me. JS hasn't been keeping good health, but the extended family gathered together this week to wish her a happy, healthy year...

In the abridged broadcast, Sanjay's concert starts with gAngEya vasanadhara kriti. svarAs follow. Packs as much feeling as a neraval. Unfolds ever so gently as the svarAs are built up, the hindustAni piDis blending in so well without being mere frills. A sense of sailing along the kerala coast results.

tOdi AlApana continues in the same mood. Only, some hidden caves of the contours of the rAgA come into view. The rAgA's richness with a few of its intricacies are brought out crisply but lovingly by Sanjay and Varadu plays on to add to the pleasure. SvarAs at bhArati. No neraval.
Percussion in the background is aiding the whole process...

japata japata hari nAm, the bhajan in Sindhubhairavi was sung as a rAgamAlikA by Sanjay. The rAgA susAma was there too (new to me), according to Sriram's SL's list of songs of concerts of the festival so far in Concert Reviews forum--which makes me wonder--did BMK tune it as a rAgamAlikA?

Arasi, Japata Japata Hari Nama was tuned as a ragamalika by Prince Rama Varma.
Sushama is a nice raga which evokes a feeling of melancholy, despair etc. (at least to me)
The raga follows S R2 M1 P D1 S / S D1 P M1 R2 S.
