V.Navaneet Krishnan- Vocal
M Vijay - Violin
Dr. V N Sivakumar - Mridangam
Sai Subramaniam - Morsing

PROFILE OF THE ARTISTES
V Navaneet Krishnan's exposure to Carnatic music began at the tender age of 3, when he heard the resonant voice of Smt. M.S.Subbulakshmi. He subsequently traveled to Chennai to meet her and get her blessings. Her music was an over-arching influence during his formative years. During this time, he learnt to play the Mridangam under the tutelage of Sri Bangalore Arjunan (father of Vidwan Arjun Kumar). After moving to Mumbai, at the age of 16, Navaneet had the good fortune to learn under the celebrated guru, the late Sri V.Vamanan, who broadened his musical understanding by introducing him to the music of the great stalwarts of Carnatic music. This influence provided him with an exposure to various musical styles, perfected by the musical giants of yore. Over the years, as he spent hours rigorously training to improve and hone his art, he naturally gravitated towards a more bhava-oriented style. He considers this a crucial turning point in the evolution of his musical thought and artistic expression. The greatest influence in this transition has been the music of Sri Palghat K.V.Narayanaswamy, whose unique style and aesthetic presentation of Carnatic music has played a vital role in channeling Navaneet's music. He considers himself to be blessed to have come under the guidance of Smt. Padma Narayanaswamy, wife and prime disciple of the late Sri K.V.Narayanaswamy. She has helped Navaneet re-discover his music, helping him explore new facets of the art. She has given him innumerable pointers, helping him delve deep into the musical style of Sri KVN. Infact, it is her priceless guidance, paired along with Navaneet's diligence and deep-abiding passion for Sri KVN, that has helped his music become more nuanced. His training has made him one of the few authentic practitioners of the "Ariyakkudi-KVN" Bani. Being a thinking musician and a prolific listener, Navaneet has also been deeply influenced by the music of several Hindustani stalwarts, notably Pt. Kumar Gandharva, Ustad Amir Khan and Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar. Listening to these musicians, along with his Master Sri KVN, has helped him develop a new-found respect for purity of swara-sthana. Navaneet is a graded artiste of All India Radio.

M. Vijay is a very popular violinist and needs no introduction.

Dr. V N Sivakumar had the privilege of receiving his formal training in mridangam from the legendary and much beloved guru, the late Sangeetha Kala Acharya Kumbakonam Sri M. Rajappa Iyer. He also venerates Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri T. K. Murthy as his teacher and ideal, and has, over a period of several years, endeavoured to study and emulate that great percussionist’s special approach to mridangam accompaniment. Sivakumar’s first concert appearance took place in Madras over 40 years ago. Dr. Sivakumar received his PhD in mathematics from the University of Alberta, Canada. Prior to his recent retirement, he was a long-serving member of the mathematics department at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, USA.

Sai Subramaniam V is a AIR B High grade morsing artist who is performing concerts across globe and sharing stage with various doyens of musicians for the past 15 years. He is a diciple of Kalaimamani Sri A S Krishnan. Although a Chartered accountant by profession who is working in a private sector bank, he is pursuing this exquisite and rare art form with humongous passion.

Best wishes to all 4 performers for a great concert. Nageswaran sir , his wife have a big musical heart and you would all be inspired to sing in his west mambalam residence which takes the name of Lord Murugas home , perhaps next to ayodhya mandapam nageswaran sir house is the musically most vibrant venue.

The house concert on 01 March drew a houseful audience perhaps with the highest number of our forumites in attendance in addition to Nageswaran Sir:
CRama, rajeshnat, srinathk and me.
Nick H couldn't make it due to unavoidable reasons.

It was a fitting celebration of respected Nageswaran Sir's 81st birthday.
