chittaranjani - original Walajapet version

Post by SrinathK »

Yes, this is the "old" chittaranjani. A janya of the 19th mEla, jhankAradhwani - which means this was a vivAdi rAgA with D1 and N1. All old books mention the detail of chittaranjani being under jhankAradhwani.

So this is how nAda tanum anisham used to sound like, until vivAdi phobia caused retuinitis to occur.

The source of these renditions comes from manuscripts saved in the Government Oriental Manuscripts Library and Research Centre (GOML & RC), at the Anna Centennial Library in Kotturpuram, Chennai.
