Arasiji,
There are two more concerts in Chennai by Varmaji- 28th and 31st- the former at SriRanjini Sabha in the morning and the latter at AIMA in the evening. I do not know the exact timings, but perhaps you will be able to attend either of these or maybe if time and convenience permits, both....

Seems everything is happening on the 19th!

Might manage one of the the others.

Sri Ranjini: is that one of the Mylapore ones? AIMA: All India Mechanics Association?

Nick H- I had a hearty laugh seeing your expansion of the acronym AIMA  . Infact, it is Academy of Music and Fine Arts, an organisation established by the very versatile T.V.Gopalakrishnan, who excelled both as a percussionist and a vocalist.

cienu- If and when I can get my hands on the exact venue and time, I will post it here....as for directions, I should be the last person to give you directions as Chennai to me, is as alien as Mars...;)

;)

At least it isn't the Auto-drivers of India Musical Association!

"How much is a front-row seat?"

"Rs200, sir."

"Oh dear. How much is a back row seat?"

"Rs400."

"What!"

"One way system, Sir: have to go to stage along middle aisle and then back down side aisle...!

But yes, I have heard of TVG's AIMA :).

Very funny Nick

Arasi, I wonder how much it will be to take you to the other side of the aisle, same row? Or, was it Suji who engaged an Auto to cross the street?

Both of us, at different times! Nick would really be a puzzle at first for them--a non-dEsi face, but in a vEshTi and a kurta? Well, how do I deal with this girAkki (fare)? Do I zip him off or play a bargaining game? :)

Now, why did the chicken of a woman cross the road in an auto? Because the road was impossible to cross, with policmen crawling all over, making way for a dignitary and 'arresting' the progress of pedestrians in the process...

Nick - just awesome, but I see you left out the $#%$#%#$% that follows pretty much every sentence by a Chennai auto-driver, especially a disgruntled one :-)

Where do you find the other kind--I mean the not so disgruntled ones?!

In the name of fairness, I have to say that I have known, and continue to meet good and honest auto drivers.

But generally speaking, they were my main reason for buying a car --- I got so fed up with them!

Sounds like a police "Wanted" poster!

My wife wanted to know why there were a few police in the NGS canteen this afternoon. I said that they had probably had reports of an artist singing an illegal raga...

Your sense of humour is rib-tickling, even when it is at my expense :)
On second thoughts, it does sound slightly ominous....
Well, as long as the purpose is served....sigh!

I am reminded of the record companies that put, "Recorded Live in the Studio" on their covers!

Anyway, and back to reality, and thanks for your kind comments :) ...

10.00am at Swamy's hall is doable, even for this late-rising night bird, and I am definitely n his fan list.

Hope to see Nick and a few other Rama Varma fans :)

I can't picture your face though, so excuse me if I have a blank look at first <Blush>

...and I forgot to say, thanks skutty, for the details.
