DayA payO in jagan mohini with measured swaraprastara gave a brisk start and opened the program with a lively gait. In Thyagaraja swamy’s rare musically and lyrically rich composition in sahAnA Sanjay brought out all the aspects of the raga and richness of sahitya with elaborate neraval showcasing the subtle microtones of the melody . In the neraval at "yasamAyuvu sath bhakthiyu" pleading RamA, uncovering layers of melody and the philosophical question he conveyed how every syllable of the sahitya adds to the richness of the thought expressed.

In shanmugapriyA raga exploration the raga identity was shaped in an unhurried, reflective with long and continuous phrases emphasizing tradition and exploring new vistas of interpretative purity true to his exquisite manodharma. In PaTnam Subramanya Aiyyar's MariverE he brought out the effectiveness and the bewitching beauty of the sahityam with relevant sangathis punctuated with deep karvais and doing full justice to the composer with the beauty of the swaraksharas seamlessly flowing in with a gait .

In Vazhi maraithirukehE in Nattakurinji, the krithi rendition was intensely moving retaining its lyrical majesty, exploring the anguish of the composer in the most haunting way.

Then came the melody of the evening Chandra Kouns, a confluence of harmony between the raga aesthetics and melody in the most scintillating way. In the medium paced alapana by getting into the deeper domains of the raga through voice modulation and animated beauty that swayed between punch and poise Sanjay brought out the grace and beauty of the raga, and the raga's sensitivity was imprinted on every sanchara at length show casing the indigenous flavor of the raga in all its exotic exuberance.

Thanam was the most pleasing and a result of his penchant for singing with verve and melody taking the discerning listeners for a refreshing journey. The pallavi was in Chathusra jati Triputa tala - 2 kallai with edupu after 1/2 idam, the pallavi text being " ThAyin maNikkoDi pArIr adhai thAzhndhu panindhu pugazhndhiDa vArIr". Kalpanaswaras for the pallavi were something to be savored for their musical and rhythmic excellence.
With its reflective viruttam in DhanyAsi and mOhanam, in Chidambaram pOgAmal irupEnO, he beautifully brought forth the profound meaning doing full justice to the composer.

With great support from the accompanying artists, it was one of a kind of a "Margazhi Melody" for two and a half hours.

Kedharam,

Did it go like "tAyin maNikkoDi pArIr adai tAzhndu panindu pugazhndiDa vArIr"

If so it is from a Subramania Bharati poem.
