I heard that they played Balagopala in bhairavi!! I didn't know UKS is accompanying them, else would have been in Fort high school....

2 was Marubalka in Sriranjani, not Sivaranjani.

6 was Bala Gopala in Bhairavi

5 - i am not sure if it was Sri Saraswati...

9 was Madurai Mani Iyer's English Note.

After the felicitations for the artistes, Sri UKS spoke for about 5-10 mins, about how he was introduced to Sri Ramaseva Mandali by Sri Chowdaiah more than 50 years ago. He said he has completed 63 years of his concert career!! He also spoke about how he likes playing for Mysore Nagaraj and Manjunath...

The concert as usual was excellent. The co-ordination between the brothers is extraordinary.

The thani between Sri UKS and Sri Giridhar Udupa was very good, explosive! :)

bAlagOpAla--that would've been great to hear. I agree that Mysore Brothers have tremendous co-ordination.

Co-ordination of a kind which does not prevent them from playing in their own distinctive personal ways--which means they blend in when they need to and give expression to their own imagination when they play alone--still staying within the style. And, they don't blend in a blah way at all!

Anyone I can contact reg. obtaining a recording (if the concert was recorded at all)? I haven't heard UKS sir play for Mysore bros. before... let alone with Udupa, and the song list looks like it's right up his creek!

Sankirnam, there is a commercial release of a Mysore brothers concert with UKS that you might like (Charsur: December season 2007). It has a good version of Upacharamu in Bhairavi.

I would send you a link to it, but charsur's website is down. You can find it on itunes or emusic quite easily.
