Very Sanjay-esque concert list. Rishabapriya main and Polla puliyinum....
I heard his CD released last year by the Charsur Arts foundation. Quite impressive!

Not just the list. The whole stage demeanour, gesticulations, dress sense, meticulous planning, singing style full of poised explosiveness not to mention the dabba moonji all remind you that he is Sanjay's student. His voice is "better" than Sanjay's (more ganeer) and his presentation has a few rough edges which will get deburred over time :-)

I heard the full concert and was really impressed with the performance. a good team work. he imitates his Guru in many ways especially the dance with alapanas. kai thookal. rishabhapriya receives a special mention as he explored the raga very well. The Korvai was good.
sure he will leave a stamp of his own soon.

sureshvv,
And I thought it was from some movie, the expression. And what about mango face, full circle face and so on? After all, we all fit into one category or the other.
Whatever cetegory Sandeep falls under, he is a very good singer and has a stage personality as well.
We all know that it is music that makes a concert work :) A pleasant face adds some charm to it, I agree, but beauty (handsomeness) matters the least in music. Besides, it is is all in the eye of the beholder...

You guys got me all wrong... Firstly it was meant only as a term of endearment. Secondly, I find a dabba/dappa moonji most alluring. Thirdly, from the audience in the hall I dare say that many others do too ;)

No, I didn't get you wrong. You would not have written an appreciative review had you not liked his performance!

And I don't find it easy to separate the performer from the performance. A good kuchery leads me to become an adulating whimpering fan :-)

I like Sanjay's "not kaneer" Voice though. And very well suited for his style of singing.
Very good when he renders kamboji, mohanam , Kalyani, begada , and I think many more ragas.

I listened to korinavara (that happens to be my current fav song too) from his website
It was really a great rendition.

The neraval of this song has great scope and he just did that exactly. Great breadth.

I just noticed that this concert is available for download on the charsur website (for a cost of $5; pricing is probably different in India).
