The upAkarmam is the renewal of commitment to the pusuit of knowledge. It is performed by thousands of brahmins all over the globe for expressing the gratitude to the great Rishis who discovered the vedas as well as to commence the study of those Books of Knowledge for the welfare of the Humanity collectively. It is also the right occassion for us to express our gratitude to our Musical Prampara which is Gandharva Veda that originated from the Divine Sama Veda.
