Does anyone have an elaborate alapana or RTP in saramati that can be uploaded?

There is an academy concert of MDR with Lalgudi and PMI. Soon after the thani, MDR starts with "Sakshad .." .. spellbinding Mokshamu galada. If you have not heard that I will upload that. Worth listening to many times.

An elaborate 25 minute rendition on Veena (14 minutes alapana) by Smt. Veena Kinhal in a Montreal, Canada concert (1991). Veena sings along begining 14th minute. Unfortunately I do not have the complete file.

Tanjore S Kalyanaraman has rendered an RTP in Saramathi in the late 1960's at Music Academy.

Thanks for the link, VKR. Hadn't considered the Saramathi-Hindolam neighbourhood before! Charumathi's rendition was crystal clear and all MLV.

Youtube surfing today and stumbled on this Mokshamu rendition by MDR. He sings the line starting with Sangeetha Gnyanamu... in a very "chopped" up manner- intriguing!

And speaking of saramathi, I think one of the greatest proponents of this raga was MVS (Santhanam). He had such a grip over the raga bhava and could really get to the bottom of the raga so precisely. I remember listening to a very elaborate rendition on Sangeethapriya- the alapanai was excellent.

bilahari,
There is one rendition of Shri santhAnam singing his own krithi in the rAgam sAramati. The krithi is "nAdamAdum deivame" in praise of H H chandrasekara swami . Santhanam is just brilliant there.

Bilahari, Since you are such a big TNK fan, listen to his rendition of Saramati ragam and Mokshamu. It is to die for.

Thanks rajesh, will hunt down the MVS's saramathi composition (didn't know he'd even composed in this ragam!). Appu, TNK played a Mokshamu main at Raga Sudha last year and it was really to die for!

I am recollecting after hearing these krithis since late 80's/early 90's.All the tapes are gone because of over abuse. Let me still give a try, I am sure there could be few mistakes and here is his lyrics

P:nadamAdum deivamE kamakOti karunA moorthiyE

AP:iDar theerthu eN mana irULai nEEki

Rajesh,

Charanam has only 3 lines, whereas it should have 4 lines. Pl squeeze your memory. gNAna guruvE is coming in two places. Our co members can help giving the full kriti, which seems to be good

There is a lovely Thanjavur shankaran Iyer’s composition "manasAra madhiyanE sivan maganai" and MLV was a queen in her rendition of this piece.
