I think you have adequately communicated what was attempted in that gathi bedham.
I understoodd your definition of Aksharam and Maththirai. But what was confusing to me is when you say that each mathirai is multiplied by 5 to get to 80 mathirais.
But I understood what you are saying with respect to the kaNakku.
BTW, in his way of singing, did the pUrvAngam of the varnam take the same total number of avarthanams? If so, since the pallavi took 3 cycles instead of 2, I assume he compensated for it in anupallavi and chittaswaram.
