Once done, I will clean up this post. Given that this is quite an involved work to separate content from the same post, please keep the content of one post to one topic. It is not that difficult to move an entire post but splitting a single post into multiple ones and still preserving the posting timestamp, author etc. is next to impossible given the forum software features.

Great concert!! In his early eighties what endurance,vidwath,poise and chaste rendering.I think Nedunuri Sir enjoyed singing as much as all of us enjoyed listening to him.The Paraloga krithi I had not heard for the last 4 decades after the demise of GNB--the Asaveri piece and Nathupai(Alathur used to sing this piece) were all vintage Nedunuri .
The yadukulakambodhi piece too was lilting--the alapana with all its nuances lent majesticity .
Had to leave after this piece so could not enjoy the "Chillarai Uruppadigals"(as Palghat Mani Iyer used to refer to the colloquial "Tukkadas!!)--the loss I am sure was mine!!
Earlier I listened to a brilliant lec-dem @ the MA by Kanyakumari with Embar and two young adherents to the GNB school.(Sorry could not get their names!!)
In a crisp 40 minute presentation she brought out GNB's Andolika varnam(Nee Daya)--how he handled the jeeva Swara Ri in the 3rd chittaswaram.Also the rare ragas like Amrithabehag,Chandrahasitham(derivative of harikambodhi) with the Raga mudra embedded in the song--ditto for nalinakanthi(the swaraakshara Nee Pa in the opening of the song. Kanyakumari also pointed out How contemporary artistes like KVN and DKP popularised some of his songs like Marivere Gathina(Malavi)--the test of authenticity and approval..
The krithi in Todi Ma Maguleshwaram-Kanyakumari pointed out that if one were not to know the composer one would automatically swear it is Muthuswamy Dikshithar--How apt?
Valayapatti complimented Kanyakumari and her troupe for their Guru Bhakthi--strange that except for Bhushani kalyanaraman other GNB lineage disciples were conspicuosly absent.
I checked out the concert schedules for that time slot in all the sabhas and none of the afore-not-mentioned disciples had concert engagements!!
I wonder what is their excuse!!

I was blessed to be there for the concert and it was simply great!
I also attended the lec-dem of Kum. Kanyakumari which was excelent. The young artistes names are M. Rajeev & Giridhari. Both of them have excellent vidwat on playing violin and are doing their engineering getting admission on merit.
