About the Vocalist

Post by venmany »

Vaikkam Jayachadran has 16 Years of experience in professional classic concerts and teaching. For him, Carnatic music was a natural choice. His father, Vaikom G Vasudevan Namboothiri is a renowned carnatic musician in Kerala who was Jayachandran's first guru. Empowered by strong foundation, he joined RLV College of music, Thripunithura for formal education in classical music. He graduated with Gana praveena (Post Diploma). Soon after his studies, Jaychandran won the prestigious central government scholarship which brought him to Chennai. Among the great teachers who groomed him, Mavelikkara P Subramaniyam deserves a special mention who discovered Jayachadran's potential and strengths and guided him through his early years of learning. As a devout student, Vaikkam Jayachadran still continues to take lessons from his revered teacher. Vaikkam Jayachadran was also a privileged student of Sangeetha Kalanidhi sri. Tanjore M Thiagarajan (popularly known as TMT). He could also take few lessons from Mavelikkara Prabhakara Varma , a venerated dignitary in contemporary classical music. Today, Jayachadran is one among the most popular new generation carnatic singers. He won my credibility over a decade through numerous outstanding performances across the country. Though he prefers the traditional style of rendering, he doesn’t really go by books. Jaychandran’s desire to learn has a profound influence on his rendering and can always find room for innovation. He takes command over the audience with his Neravals and Ragaalapana. He also enthralls the audience with pertinent emotional variations to the music, leaving pleasant memories.

Palakkad A.M.Hari Narayanan

Hari Narayanan’s first lessons on the mridangam started at the age of 5, under the watchful eyes of mridanga vidwan Palakkad S. A. Ramakrishnan.
Later, HariNaryanan continued his formal training with Sri K.P.Parameswaran, who is a disciple of Sangeethakalanidhi Dr. T.K.Moorthy. It was under him that Hari learned the widely accepted traditional style of mridangam, popularly known as Tanjore baani, and the different nuances of this rich style.
At present, Hari is continuing advanced training from none other than Dr. T.K.Moorthy himself.

Hari Narayanan have also been receiving invitations to perform for media channels including Doordarshan, Asianet, Kairali and Amrita TV apart from accompanying many leading artists both at the State and the National level. .Hari is a B’high garde artiste from Trichur All India Radio.

Good to know of this concert by BHERI. I attended the one held earlier in Indiranagar. I think I might even have entered my name/email in some form there. It will be nice if there can be an intimation of programmes so that whenever possible we can attend.

All the best BHERI. BTW,can also invite non-kerala artists :) No offence meant. I am sure that there is a huge talent pool in Kerala waiting to be exposed to Bangalore and other major cities.
