It was a very elaborate concert with a really good list. The Reethigowlai Varnam is always pleasing. Then Meru Samana was sung with Swarams at Gala Muna Shobhillu with some nice patterns - true to the TNS school. The Purvikalyani composition, announced to be that of Gopalakrishna Bharathi had a fine round of Neraval. Liked the Devamanohari Ragam that was fairly elaborate for over 7 minutes. Been quite some time since I heard the Kambhoji Padam live. Was nice with all the leisurely Sangathis. The Thodi was easily the pick of the concert to me. The Ragam was developed step by step slowly and was very emotive. The violinist's reply was a bit long. The Neraval at Shanka Chakra Gadha was very elaborate. The Thani was short yet good.
Chalamelara was a good filler. The RTP in Amrithavarshini was soothing. The Ragam was nice. The Pallavi was executed well with Trikalam. The Ragamalika Swarams had nice transitions and were sung in a reverse order too. The Shlokam in Ragamalika had all Ragams that occur in Bhavayami. And the Ragam order in the Shlokam was in a reverse fashion of that of the song culminating in Saveri. The Mukhari and Saveri parts were especially appealing to me. Chandiran Oliyil and the Jog piece provided a good finish. The violinist gave good support throughout. the percussion also fitted in well with the mood of the songs.
Overall, a fine elaborate concert with good planning and variety. One that I'll remember for quite some time.
