Sangeetha Kalanidhi title - 2011

Who do you think will be awarded the next sangeetha Kalanidhi Award.
My take is it should be to a relatively young performer, the likes of T M Krishna

why dont you think of greatest masters who have not been awarded so far........to my mind Lalgudi Sir comes first who deserves to get this award for 2011 ...

I have set a mental alarm to post about Sangeetha Kalanidhi Title - 2012 on January 1st 2012, after the Sadas is over Records are there only to be broken!! Since Arasi did not mention any year, it still satisfies the Post-October condition

October may be too late to start the discussion; by then MA would have made the decision and even announced it ! While it is too early now, June/July may be the right time to come up with our inputs so as to influence the MA. My suggestion would again be: Trissur V. Ramachandran.

MA should relook at its policies on awarding deserving artists who are no more with us (posthumously award them). This will only enhance the respect for the organisation!
If a Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award can be so awarded, I see no reason why MA cannot. Is MA about the Indian Constitution / Government? High time they bend their rules!

When semmanguDi SrInivAsa iyer (1908-2003) received sangIta kalAnidhi in 1947, he was only 39 years old . Smt. M L vasantakumAri (1928-90) recieved sangIta kalAnidhi in 1976, she was 49 years old. That makes semmanguDi SrInivAsa iyer the youngest kalAnidhi recipient. Smt. M L vasantakumAri is the youngest woman recipient of the award.

I have suggested this in rasikas forum in earlier threads too.
Dont argue he is 'too young' for the award.
Consider Vidwat and fidelity to tradition. None would match him.

Having got off to an early start, he has as many years of performing experience as many who are at least a decade older than he is, maybe two, even.

It would be an excellent choice.

I thought Namagiripettai Krishnan is no more and SK is not awarded posthumously.

Parassala Ponnammal got some spl award this year and hence wont get SK

Vikku Vinayakaram is already a Sangita Kala Acharya

I would hence expect somebody else to get it.

If it has to be a danseuse, then i would actually again prefer bringing in the name of Smt. Kamala, much ahead of all others. and something tells me, if dancers start getting SK, Vyjayanthimala Bali would get before Padma Subramanian.

While fully agreeing with your statements few points come to my mind are given below. This is not to hurt anybody.
1. As there is no written documents, the yard stick for the selection of SK would be
a . Vidwans devotion to the art and their contributions by way of innovations etc to enhance the beauty of the art.
b. Their interest in sharing the knowledge by promoting disciples
c. Experience in the field [in other words age ]
d. Vidwans expertise in other field of CM .
2. A clever method adopted by MA all these years to offer lesser birudhu to avoid controversy and claim by the vidwans at later date.
Considering the above , in the danseuse category the prospective candidates of 1 and 2 are getting vanished.
TVG satisfies the other conditions.
