To all fellow-members at Rasikas.org,
Please consider this as a personal invitation from me!

Sappri,
Nice of you to announce it.
PB,
Thanks for putting up the invitation. I don't have the know-how!

Venkatakailasam,
The mail I sent you to your forum id bounced back. Thanks for the wishes. Sacred mission? I'm small fry for something of such a high order.

our heartiest congrats to ARASI on this happy occasion. It is befitting that a fellow Bangalorean vidushi Neela Ramgopal sings the songs in the cd. It is a matter of great pride that the veteran violin maestro Sri.T.N,Krishnan and the senior writer Indra Parthasarathy will be present to bless her .Our best wishes . Gobilaliha and Lalitha

Arasi
That is wonderful , i was working long hours and did not have access to mails and forum for a long time. What is really very thoughtful is you have invited two personalities which are just two sides of you , one well known is the musical side of yours where Shri TN krishnan is coming and the other Indra parthasarathy who represents the literary side of yours. Incidentally our fellow forumites mannarkoil balAji(where are you nowadays ???)and neelA mAmi performing along with VVS Murari

Vidwans  and Vidushis
It is especially a very special invite for you all . A great vaggeyakkara who has all the musical intellect to be more and ^^^ represented in concert circles . So far there are just handful ....no just a count of 4 musicians who have represented arasi in concert circuits.

It was a lovely event. Sri TN Krishnan and Indira Parthasarathy both spoke very warmly and expressed genuine happiness at being there. Smt Neela Ramgopal spoke briefly on how they had enjoyed working together. Her disciple Smt Vaishnavi beautifully sang the Kedaram number as invocation ( wonder why some people applaud even this). Arasi was as usual, warm and self-effacing and spoke thanking the guests, her spouse and children and the rasikas.org community(describing them as her cheerleaders). The concert started almost on the dot at 645 , as stated , and ended at 8pm. Saw a few prominent people there like Smt Gayathri Girish.

Rajani, I guess we applauded because she sang the invocation so beautifully, but I have to admit, at the time, wondering if it was the right thing to do.

I met Gayathri Girish for the first time. Had no idea we were sitting near her. Hope to hear her sing one day soon. She has been strongly recommended to me already.

Haven't checked camera for snaps yet --- but they will be snaps, I'm sure someone can give us better.

Arasi spoke very well, as if she was used to public speaking. She managed to get through her list of people that had to be thanked, and people she wanted to thank (probably mostly one and the same ;)) whilst keeping an informal, and typically modest attitude.

Some more salient points:
1. TNK and IP recalled their days together in Delhi University and how IP's wife learnt music from TNK for a couple of years.
2. Arasi thanked Smt Jaya of Raga Sudha Hall and said it was an epitome of how a community-based centre for music should be. ( I agree)
3. IP initially said he felt he was "odd man out" as he was only used to literary events and did not know much about music. But he made some important observations about Sahityam being the "adi-naadam" of South Indian Music etc.
4. TNK recalled the days when he used to spend a lot of time with VVSadagopan and knew Arasi and her siblings/cousins as school children.

Vid Neela Ramgopal sang beautifully the compositions of Arasi and i could see Arasi ji was enjoying the concert and its every bit. All the kritis were rendered beautifully with lots of bhava, laya and sangathis. Neela Mami's voice was very good and she was able to convey the bhavam as envisaged in the kriti. Murari was as usual very good in his raga essays and also during accompaniments. Though i said in the beginning that Thani is not needed for such a concert like this Neela mami told that i play a short thani and i played a short thani in Adi talam.

All the compositions had weight giving scope for both accompaniment and weighty vocal development.

The function was well attend.

Arasi ji kindly give us the song list and also post photographs of the event too.
