evarani is generally sung in dEvAmrtavarSiNi but in Rangaramanuja Iyengar's book the rAgA given is kharaharapriyA..

The kalyani krithi (above) is sometimes mentioned as E tAvunarA nilakaDa nIku meaning.. in which (E) place (tAvunarA) are You (nIku) located (nilakaDa)? Thus separating as E tAvunarA. Experts may kindly clarify.

I have heard the brothers sing Evarani in Devamritha Varshini, not in Kharahara priya.

Ah, Sunaada Vinodhini… I once heard them sing it elaborately at Ayodhya mandapam, the only time I heard them sing it. What a beautiful and memorable rendition it was! I was sitting on the floor and it was none other than the maestro Sri Madurai TNS who was sitting a few feet away, also on the floor! From his expressions and gestures I could make out that he too was thoroughly enjoying it which further uplifted the musicians’ mood and performance. Would love to hear it again. Are there other famous kritis in this ragam?
Incidentally the main Ragam that day was thodi and with Sri TNS at the audience one can imagine the quality of music and the charged atmosphere. One of the best Thodi alapanas I have heard by Sri Sesha Chary.

Was the concert at the Mumbai Shanmukhananda Sabha? I think there are one or two more Shanmukhananda Sabhas elsewhere. It helps when we see the name of the town in the title.

Someone mentioned a few weeks back that Sourastram is not sung in concerts anymore. This is at least third concert list I am seeing that includes the raga!

I heard them sing a beautiful kriti in sourashtram -Varalakshmi bhajare manasa by Muthuswamy Dikshithar during last season at Chennai.

I noticed that too but did not want to 'sing the same pallavi'--or sourAshTram That's another reason why we need all the reviews we can from every part of the world--to know that sourAshTram or any other rAgam is not forgotten by performers!
