I heard in an interview that MSV has a special liking for this rAgam and you can hear a lot of songs closely based on this if not exactly.

nALAm naLAm thiru nALAm - kadhalikka nEramillai
nAn oru kuzhandhai = paDakOTTi
bharati kaNNamma = ninaithalE inikkum
ponezhil poothadhu pudhu vAnil - kalankarai viLakkam
angum ingum pAdhai unDu - avarhal

and there are many more

I hope this may be the ArOhaNa,avarOhaNam.I took this from a RTP by SS.

SGMDNDS
SNDMGRS

It seems to be a janyam of "HarikAmbhOji"

Sri. Madurai Somu has composed a very popular Kirtan in the Rag Rageshri. The song is " ninaikada neram illai muruga"
This raga is basically a hindusthani raga and the Aroh and Avaroh notes are given under:

Rag-Rageshree ( Thaat Khamaj) {a Night time raga for for rendition ie between 9pm - 12am)
Aaroha : 'n - S - G - m - D - n - S'
Avroha : S' - n - D - m - G - R - S
Pakad : G - m - D - n - S, S - n - D - m - G - R - S
Vaadi swara is Ga and Samvaadi swara is 'ni'
Pakad : G - m - D - n - S, S - n - D - m - G - R - S

The song is available for listening in humma.com. The Audio link is
http://www.hummaa.com/player/player.php
http://www.hummaa.com/music/song/ninaik ... lai/127419#
The Lyrics are: { Corrections, if any, please correct them}

RAGA: RAGESHRI. Talam: Adi

P: NinaikkAda nEramillai murugA
Ninaindu Ninaindu urugi pAdinEn
A: Ninaitha podu engum vara vendum
Ninaithadellaam NeeyAga vendum
C: Anaithukkondu Nee Adi Mayilinil
Yeri varum Vadivelaa
Ninaittukonde ennai yethi vaipai Muruga
Urugi pAdida Nee enakkarul purivAi

This raga has some resemblances with that of raga 'Bhagheshri or Bhageswari" , also of Hindusthani origin, related to the Kafi Thaat.
having the Aroh: S R g m D n S' and avaroh: S' n D m g R S .
Rag Bhageshri uses G2 and N2 whereas for Rageshri it is G3 and N3.

Please listen to the following link for an awesome rendition of the rag Rageshri by Ustad Rashid Khan.

Also listen to Rag Bhageshri by Ustad Rashid Khan on this following link and enjoy these 2 ragas and feel at few places their resemblance to one another in the rendition.

One little error:
for Rageshri it is G3 and N3.

It is G3 and N2. As you said, it is Khamaj thaat. If it were N3, it would be Bilawal thaat.

Historically I read some time some where that Trichur Ramachandran has sung an RTP in Rageshri. There were also review from bangalore where sanjay subrahmanyan also sang a RTP in Rageshri. I am bit hazy in stating that trichur brothers also tried a rtp in rageshri. It is quite a distinct raga from bhageshri , for me hearing repeatedly few thukkadas sung and popularized by madurai somu and few manaseega sishyas have got a bit more rageshri stickiness. I am assuming just like saying kambOdhi as kAmboji, it is ok for us to say and write as rakeshri or rageshri interchangably .I am also assuming it is a successful import championed by Madurai Somu from hindustani land.

This ragam is very melodious one and sticky too if someone is inclined towards ligher pieces that are typically reserved towards end of CM concert. I understand it's borrowed from HM music even there it's a relatively recent and some say its nicknamed "Queen of ragas" - RAgheshree or RAgeshri. It typically invoked sringar rasa but could be powerful in bhakti mood. i am listening/sharing below some audio links for more recent ones in this ragam which i found good to hear.

Arohana : S G3 M1 D2 N2 D2 S'
Avarohana : S' N2 D2 M1 G3 M1 R2 N2 S
(It would be a janya of 28th Harikamboji and some places its mentioned N3 also it uses though sparingly ),

1. https://youtu.be/wkKXrQjoKLY (Jagadeeshwari -composer contemporary Bangalore Prof Ramamurthy Rao)
(lyrics and meaning link/websource : https://translationsofsomesongsofcarnti ... hvari.html)

2.Ullavaru Shivalaya (Typically sung in Madhuvanti but here its rendered nicely with bhava by Bombay Jayashree madam in Ragheshri i found interesting, good too.
https://youtu.be/yyvvqh1Naxs

3.An RTP kind of by Trichur brothers (https://youtu.be/GYH5yKZH4M0), good alapana

4. Violin piece in rageshri by Charumathi Raghuraman (https://youtu.be/r3FbOP0XF8E)

5.Varnam with Nayaka bhavam by contemporary composer Madurai R Muralidharan (https://youtu.be/DGldZm7vFUI)

Being a janya of Harikambodhi it would be unfair not to put a song on Hari in this ragam that too from Saint PD

(Nice rendition)
