Sangeetha Swaminathan for KGS - 17-12

Post by sureshvv »

started with gowlai varnam in adi tala, chelini kori vatsunu

Thaaye tripura sundari in suddha saveri with a brisk neraval @ kamadenu vanangum punctuated by the rolling khanda chapu gait. Lilting long bout of swaras. Nice attempt by Bombay Anand in his violin return. His body language and intensity appear akkarai-ish but playing did not quite measure up in this particular stretch.

Balambikayai in nattaikurinji.

Soulful todi alap in progress.

violin alap much nicer for todi alap.

Koluvamaregada is the kriti.

One nice thing about this audience is it's well filtered by the visaka hari circus out front and only serious rasikas are here.

neraval @ chekoni gunamulu

Of course the serious rasikas present problems of their own and just had to request the analyzing mami in the row behind to keep it down.

Poongulum showing nice felicity in accompaniment during neraval. He should refrain from adjusting the mrudangam while violin is playing with ghatam accompaniment.

short thani with sri. narasimhan barely keeping pace

Mariyadagadaiyya in bhairavam. Nice rendition with lot of subtle ornamentation.

Now a varamu alap. D2 is becoming my favorite swara (dislodging M2 and G3)

competent varamu violin alap

Now tanam in 3 installments without mrudangam accompaniment.

Saga varam arulvai samagana lolane
Sadasiva saanidhyam thandhu

Khanda triputa rettai nadai
Chatusra and khanda

trikalam done -- piece of cake :-)

Swaras now and violin got a bit stuck and caught up end of aavartham.

Ragamalika swaras pathos soaked charukesi, dwijavanti, *poongulam mucking with mrudangam again
* hameer... ragas in reverse

I like these tweets! Thanks, Suresh.

You have a favourite swara?! What an interesting idea. I think mine is M1.

The early-in-the-day combination of Suddha Saveri and Varamu must have pushed it to the top :-)

Yes, these tweets are great. My favourite swara is probably M2-just to be different
