Bad News... a great human being... was lucky enough to interact with him in late 90s when he visited my home town to give a VOCAL Concert (strangly enough). Condolences to his family, disciples and rasikas.

Condolences to his family and sishya parampara. His town mavellikkara has produced so many artists and I am sure he played a big part in that.

Sri Velukutty Nair was a highly devoted sishya of Palghat Mani Iyer. He never stepped out
of the house without praying in front of the guru's portrait. 'Mani swamy' was everything for him. Velukutty sir's son Vasan and I were college mates. He played the mridangam well but later chose a different profession - he's a successful entrepreneur based in Mumbai. My condolences to the family members.

praying in front of the guru's portrait. The guru would be refe rred to as' 'Mani Swami
