Shocked to hear the Passing away of Madurai Shri. Srinivasan. I have interacted with him a couple of times. Once he was kind enough to allow me record a few of his compositions while he taught them to a student. He said he would sing his compositions for dance and his unique thillanas on a different day. I'm sure he was ready all the time, just that I couldn't manage to meet him I wanted to have at least a couple of detailed interview sessions, recording his carnatic and film world experiences. If only I could live in Chennai... RIP Cheena Kutti sir.

Had the opportunity to interact with him during my PhD work. His interest in rare ragas and talas brought forth many different compositions--- varnam in Nitimati, compositions in various nadais, etc. Of course, he is known best for his first composition-- Karunai daivame. He told me he was posted in Hyderabad and this was a desperate prayer to be called back to Chennai
