When people make music together their brain activity synchronizes - even when they aren't playing the same notes.

This is the finding from the Max Planck institute.
We may even find that also serious Rasikas minds being in synch.
I wonder whether the beatific effect we get listening to CM during concerts is the combined effect of these brain synchronizations...

CML,
The Bhagavadgita says "parasparaM bhAvayantaH" and "tushyanti ramanti ca". That is described as synchronicity by Karl Jung. So this Max Planck finding is not surprising...as you say for musically minded people.
It is even more pronounced in music that showcases improvisation, like CM and Jazz. Two musicians will spontaneously relate to each other and bring out extraordinary music, in a synchronicity that simply immerses audiences.

Seems like a scientific explanation of something which, in practice, many would have experienced. Perhaps it happens to some extent with the audience, too: if they are "in tune" with the music, then we must be, at least partially, "in tune" with each other. The on-stage experience, though, must be many, many times stronger.
Couldn't agree more about improvised music. In my early CM days, I used to think that the accompanists must be psychic to follow so accurately. Then I came to know that they have the help of known calculations, patterns, progressions, not to mention vast experience, and I realised that ...only some of them are psychic!

Objective scientific evidence to support subjective experience!
Now we can objectively explore how to bring about that experience!
