With no clue that he would become (or maybe was already) a fellow forumite and even an off-line friend, I attended his arrangetram all these years ago. We recognised each other when we first met in off-line life at a Rasikas event.

You could have preceded the profile, "Semmu86 needs no introduction." ;). But, really, he doesn't! His posts here show his depth of knowledge of music, both of today and of years gone past even, perhaps, before he was born.

Bangalore Shankar was also introduced to me via Rasikas.org, at an earlier concert brought together by Cool & Co.

Ambalam is an excellent venue. It is not far to travel, nor is it difficult to find --- so those two excuses can be rejected at once

The Rasayana team wishes to thank all those who have been supporting the Concert activities , over the last few years .
A journey which began with TV Ramprasadh's concert at a home of one of our members here who is no more with us .
It has been a fascinating one.
The visits to the residences of the likes of Manakkal Rangarajan , DKP , Late Somu , GS Mani .

The Concerts of GS Mani , Manakkal Rangarajan, Kalpagam Swaminthan , Prasanna Venkatraman , Srithi Johari ,Ravindra Katoti , Anupama Bhagwath ,Manda Sudha Rani ,Suryaprakash , K Gayatri ,Aiswarya Venkatraman ,Tadepalli Loknatha Sarma , Tanjavur Sankara Iyer , Sandhya Dharini...among others
Lectures by TRS , MV Ramana
Pure nectar Sessions of learning / fun with Akellaji , Charulatha Ramanujam , L Ramki , ....

For the historian who may be interested in such matters , the decision to put a halt was taken when we continuously failed to get even 10 people to attend . Yesterday we had six . :(
Absence of entry fees never helped . The carrot of wonderful post concert dinners went down the drain too .
Funds were never a problem . The artists were always a sweet bunch . Performing for such humble sums .
But then things came to such a pass that artists were at the risk of being insulted .Time and again .
Once again. Thanks for everything.

Sorry to hear about the demise of the Rasayana concert series. I hope it gets resurrected at least once a year during the season, giving an opportunity for like-minded rasikas to meet.

yes indeed , the six who attended are coolkarni, rajumds, rajeshnat, nickh ,rbharath(who was there for the first half) . I dont know who was the sixth. Long back when prasanna venkataraman was performing 4 or 5 years back with coolkarni having a fracture , it was just me , sbala ,mantra and vijay. So we have had few count of rasikas from rasikas.org . I think the core group of rasikas has just dwindled , one cannot blame as few have gone out of chennai , few finding it difficult to reach places like eambalam , at times few like me are also finding it difficult to leave toddlers at home and attend, few having longer cycles of commute on their weekdays to work in turn not having time to attend on a weekend.

Nevertheless the enthusiasm for many like coolkarni(especially), bharath, rajumds, nickh, mantra ,myself etal just needs a break , it is now in litium ion recharge mode . We ofcourse need brand new active rasikas joining the likes of core group .

I willl post the review of bangalore shankar in a day or two.

I'm looking forward to your review.

It was an excellent concert. The sixth regular-rasikas.org attendee might have been the one on stage? And very well he played too :)

Although things looked rather sparse at the beginning, there was a reasonably respectable number of people gathered as the concert went on. Last year saw the Oli season of concerts: a presentation of two chamber concerts each month, without amplification. I attended the majority of them, and most had enough people to fill the spaces in which they were held, but some did not, and the astonishingly sweet untouched-by-electronics performance of Suguna Purushothaman was marked not only by the amazing concert experience, but by the fact that the entire audience count, including family and close friends came to ...10. Well, perhaps it was all the greater experience for that lucky ten.
