Why one is called almost same way in other languages too:

onnu - malayalam
uno - spanish
and so on in many other languages

Too far fetched... relying on the French one and seven, and flattening out the curves. Actually, 3, 6, 8, 9 and 0 all have no angles. Or angels :)

Just do not go deep in to it..just enjoy that some one was able to tell you some thing new in his own way which we have missed...That is how I take it...

It is neither Swara bedam nor Graha Bhedam...

Venkatakailasam,
I absolutely agree. In fact all this time, I have been thinking like..
One is called one because it has one thing in it (from any angle).. Two because it has two things in it.. And so on.
In fact ten has ten things in it, all perhaps angels like Pele, Sachin Tendulkar and so on,
Right!?!
