I am eager to learn more about this initiative!

I am tempted to guess what KFAC might stand for but I don't want to do that and cause any distraction!

This photo is a symbol of an historic get-together. The group together have an experience of over 200 years :-o in arranging carnatic music concerts.

Yes! You guessed right. Each one here is an executive of one of the leading Carnatic Music Sabha in Bangalore.

Standing L_R: Dr.Raghavendra (Ananya), Sri. Raghavan (Nadasurabhi), Sri.Satheesh (Visesha Fine Arts), Sri.Arvind Brahmakal (Ranjani Fine Arts), Sri. Srikishen (M.A.Narasimhachar Foundation), Sri.Ravishankar (Saamagaana sabha) and Sri.Ramesh Swamy (SGBS)
Sitting L-R: Sri. Anantharamaiah (BTM Cultural Academy), Dr.Prasad (Gayana Samaja) and Sri.Krishna Prasad (Sri Ram Lalitha Kala Mandira)

The sabhas above in brackets are trustees to a new fine arts entity specialising in Carnatic music called the "Karnataka Fine Arts Council" and registered as a charitable trust on 22nd March 2014. The broad objective is to improve the overall fine arts climate in the state of Karnataka and to get the acclaim and recognition that the fine arts community richly deserve. It is to assist and encourage fine arts development in the state, by supporting all stake holders namely the artists, fine arts lovers, rasikas, sabhas, and governmental departments which are responsible for this area.

WATCH THIS COLUMN FOR MORE INFORMATION IN THE WEEKS TO COME. ALL ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS CULTURAL MOVEMENT.

KSSR,
Good one, looks bangalore is really doing a great job in the past year or two. There is definitely more online presence than chennai . IF i could add few things

1.Keep a healthy rotation of artists and try to invite many quality musicians who have not hit that much the city of bangalore . Some times same rotation does not go well with the art.

2. Keep a tab and try to ticket minimally as much as possible . Donot bring in the chennai policy of the usual All are welcome and kill the art over a period of the next decade.

3. Most importantly GIVE MORE TIME To artists to present the concert and keep speeches to the minimum and donot show favoritism of giving more time only for selected artists . Appears the chennai bug has partially infected you all.

I am getting a feel that if december season is not considered for other months in a year , bangalore is slowly closing the gap or even overtaken in terms of number of concerts than chennai.

Way to go Bangalore Royal Challengers :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

Kssr,
Very interesting.
Since it is a council for all of Karnataka, I suggest you get participation from similar sabhas of other cities also like Mysore, Hubli, Shimoga etc. Is there any governmental support for this initiative?

I am sure by now the forum members have seen more information about this initiative through other media. If this is not the case, the same is available in this SRLKM magazine (back sheet contains programme schedule).
