We were blessed to hear enthralling and blissful vocal concert by Rama Varma Sir at Brahma Gaana Sabha , Chennai on 13-08-2014 . Rama Varma Sir presented the following Krithis at the concert. Most of the compositions were Devi Krithis.

1. Jaya Lakshmi Vara Lakshmi , Annamacharya Kruthi in telugu in Kaama Vardhani Raaga set to tune by Smt Sarala, mother of the dancer Swapnasundari.

2. Thyagaraja Kruthi , Nannu Kanna talli Naa Bhagyama in raaga Sindhukannada or Kesari Raaga set to adi taala.

3. Subbaraya Shastry 's Janani Ninu Vina in Reeti Gowla raaga set to mishra chapu taala.

4. A rare telugu composition of Kuppu swamayya in Hamir Kalyani Raada Naa meeda daya leda on Sri Venkateshwara Swamy.

5. Main Kruthi of the evening was Maharaja Swathi Thirunal's 3rd day Navaratri Kruthi Devi Pavane in Saaveri raaga set to Adi taala.

6. Purandara dasa Kruthi Ramakrishnaru manege bandaru in raaga Tilang tuned by Professsor T R Subramanyam.

7. S D Batish 's Ganamurthi raaga Lakshna geetam kruthi Indu Chakra me kanakangi set to adi taala.
Varma Sir told that it is for the first time he has presented this song on stage. We were fortunate to learn this beautiful song last year from Rama Varma Sir
at Perla.

8. Dr Balamuralikrishna's Tamil Song in Charukeshi raaga Tunai Neeye Kumara . Song was presented in Madhyama Sruti .

9. Swathi Thirunal Maharaja's Guru Irayimman Thampi's composition on Guruvayur Krishna in Malyalam language Karuna cheyvaan Endu in Yadukulakamboji
tuned by Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar.

10. Muttuswami Dikshitar's Westren note Pankajamukha

11.Maharaja Swathi Thirunal's Kruthi ' Bhujasaayino' mangalam in Yadukula kamboji.

At the end of concert , Mridangam Maestro Professor T V Gopalakrishnan Sir honoured and blessed Rama Varma Sir . Swara Sadha workshop students sung a short song , ' Janma Dinam idam ayi priya Guru ' to celebrate Rama Varma Sir's birthday in a musical way.

Was planning to be there. Somehow, something always seems to prevent me getting to his concerts. He must have long since got fed up with my "excuses," except the one of clashing with the elder "RV."

This time it was flood water, and the works needed to prevent repetition. But never mind that....

I hope the concert was well attended. I went to TVG and the aforementioned "RV." They were both excellent concerts, but performed to sadly few people.

tuned by Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar.

Is it the same karuna cheyvaan endu that was sung soulfully by kvn. I never knew that chembai had tuned that .

Yes it is the same Karuna Cheyvaan endu. Recently one of my friend said that KVN popularised MDR's "Saagara Shayana Vibho" in Bageshree too. For a very very long time people related this song only with KVN and no one knew it was MDR who composed and set the tune to this beautiful soul drenching song!
