Dear rasikas,

It is with immense pleasure that we invite you all to celebrate a landmark event. Our beloved Guru Sangitha Kalanidhi Dr R Vedavalli completes 80 years with over six decades of service to the cause of Karnatic classical music. We, the students are happy to bring a special programme marking this occasion with a musical evening where there will be a musical offering to Vedavalli Amma followed by a felicitation function.

निवेदनं nivedanam means dedication, offering. That is what a devotee offers the lord, and a student to the teacher. Remember that Swami Vivekananda named the disciple who came all the way from UK and dedicated herself as Nivedita.

We know that Parivadini were actually unable to broadcast from the event. However, it is not lost, as there was a video team present.

I had been told by Sumathi Krishnan that this would be made available. I asked her and Sumithra for a progress report, when I saw them at Smt RV's lecdem a few days ago. They told me that Parivadini were preparing the video for publication, and it would be made available within a few days.

How nice to be joined by Swathi Ravichandran: Sumithra's student, Vedavalli-school next generation. Welcome Swathi! But you are far closer to the source when it comes to this kind of information.

So, we eagerly await announcement from the Gurukula itself, or from Parivadani themselves
