You have not reviewed the concert. But as far as I am concerned,i had mixed feelings. The tempo was slow for all the songs upto Thani.Definitely H K venkatram excelled as Violin lead and accompaniment.Looking forward to a detailed Review from Badari.

Badari,
Got a chance to come to the computer just now. Read what you had to say
The vilamba kAlA singing in 'jO jO' mode jogged your memory about your Jog Falls experience, I guess
A jAgO alert for you when the snorer sawed away, eh? Yet, shut eyes are part of the CM scene (with plenty of oldies, and occasionally children in the audience, never mind who the performer happens to be).
"tARumARu sangItamadan taram inda sabai aRiyumO?'' can well be the next plaintive pallavi line for TMK (meaning: my inspired, shuffled up concerts--when are the listeners going to realize their value?).
I mean tARumARu strictly in the way he goes about the order of things. Somehow, I don't seem to relish it in a concert hall. I sing that way, doing my chores during the day. But then, who's listening?
How I wish I know ahead of time when he plans to sing a solid concert and I luck out, being in the vicinity to hear him

tARumARu it is! In all its senses. His approach must to be close to yours as you are doing the choresarasi wrote: I mean tARumARu strictly in the way he goes about the order of things. I have some anecdotal evidence that his concerts are much more "solid" when there are some senior stalwarts in the audience (like Smt. Vedavalli). So may be you can try to sync with themHow I wish I know ahead of time when he plans to sing a solid concert and I luck out, being in the vicinity to hear him

@ Arasi,
one place you can be sure shot is the MMA , where the list for the day is announced well in advance.
Hope you get to catch up his concert (if any in future..) at MMA.

TMK will not sing in MA. Even if he sings, he will not give the song list in advance. Under the circumstances, the only way to hear an assured good concert of TMK is to arrange listening session of his old concerts.

Re: TM Krishna and Team @ Unnati, Bangalore
Attended a TMK concert live after about a break of two years. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a more structured offering than what a TMK concert has come to mean now a days.
The Begada was utterly beautiful, as was the Mukhari (could identify it as Mukhari from the initial phrases itself).
H K Venkatram was easily the standout of the day though. Such melodious playing.
Arun Prakash and Anirudh Athreya supported ably too. Enough can't be said of Arun Prakash's sensitive playing for the Begada padam. Each and every line was complemented aesthetically by his accompaniment.
Badari, the second raga in the ragamalika was Nayaki, not Sri.

Badari. It is a loss to me also as I like his music very much and even now hearing many of his old concerts. But I cannot stand Hey Govind Hey Gopal in Kambodi. You also had a taste of that now. Let us wait for better days.

There is no loss. The are plenty of artists who are better than TMK. Enjoy what is offered by other artists than cut a sorry figure after attending a TMK concert, if you you believe it is full of theatrics than music !!badari wrote:@Squims.. Even Jayan recognised the second raga as Sri !

There is an excellent Lec-Dem by our own Neela Mami on Bhairavi/Mukhari/Maanji/Huseni that you can find on the net (held at Ananya). Let me know Jayan, if you can't find it. It is top class. That said, Lord Krishna in his present avataram can confuse one an all on his day.....I am waiting for the avataram to change to circa 2004 - when he sang Saveri Varnam - Giripai Sahana (sub-main) - Sree Rajagopala (main) - Sankarabharanam (RTP)....@ SIFA 25
