I also heard from a friend who is descendent of a prominent music teacher ( identities withheld) - that his brother working for a U.S Corp - took sabatical ( allowed by that firm) and learnt how to make the Ghatam from Mr. Ramesh.

Wish many people doing that for Mridangam too!. Well at least repair it!
