Hi friends,
Was doing a small Research on Geethams
Coz my teacher used to say:
To get hold on a ragam :
We need to learn
1 geetham + 1jathiswaram/swarajathi + 1 varnam + 2 krithi (madhyama Kala and vilamba Kala) atleast in that perticular Raga.
That is when I went in search of geethams in different ragas and did some analysis...
During analysis
The current trend in teaching Geethams is :
Tutoring students with 10+ Geethams
(pillari-4,Kalyani,mohana,kamboji,anandabhairavi,begada,shudda saveri, bhairavi,....)
Here are we questions that came to my mind.
1.why many lakshana geethams are not thought?
Are they lost ???
2.why popular ragas are not taken up?
To attract students....
3.do students feel difficult to keep in mind ?
4.did teachers find difficult convincing students ?
5.are teachers continuing tradition/ lineage /perticular pataantharam ?
6.why many paidala gurumurthy sastrigals and others beautiful Geethams are lost ?
7.geethams given in subbarama diksitar book (prahamabhyasa pustakam) are unheard and rare ......? No recordings are also available.
(Please anybody guide on this)
8.venkatamakhi's Geethams are not in practice to which are notated in SSP ?
9.or the above mentioned 10+ Geethams are
Easy to learn / sing
Has raga bhavam
simple sahithyam
Please share your views on it.
